I think that the restaurant is experiencing some growing pains. I hope that by the time I visit next, the management are able to iron out some kinks. Our service was horrible when we had dinner there earlier in the year, but I think our waitress was likely just inexperienced and not intentionally snubbing us. She was very slow and took no initiative at all in asking for our orders or refilling our drinks.
The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived for our early dinner, which we didn't find unusual even for an early Sunday evening. It was really quiet in the parks that week. We ordered an appetizer to split while deciding on our entrées. After that, our waitress passed our table four times without stopping to check in with us again. We had finished the appetizer before we were even able to flag her down to order our main course. We didn't care for the appetizer, but that wasn't the restaurant's fault. I think we just ordered wrong I'm sure what we had would appeal to many others.
A duo of guitar playing folk singers set up and started playing while we were waiting. Their sound equipment was a little louder than I would have liked. Had we arrived after they did, I probably would have asked to be seated farther away from them. We found their music to be kind of distracting and obnoxious, especially because the house stereo was still on and playing other music.
Both of our entrées were incorrect when they came out of the kitchen. My boyfriend's was missing a key ingredient and mine had one ingredient replaced with another. We didn't ask for these substitutions or omissions, but we had waited long enough and wanted to get away from the competing sources of music, so we accepted the meals without complaint, and they were fine. We just thought it was a little weird. We're not sure whether the mistake was with our server or the kitchen, but it didn't really matter to us.
We had two drinks each while we were there. I didn't care for their Midori-heavy version of a pisco sour, but I really liked the Cor-Zinger, which is a drink of tequila, muddled strawberries and St. Germain, an elderflower liqueur. Truth be told, the Cor-Zinger was the only element of the meal I might repeat were I to return there.
All in all, I think it's likely that our experience there was atypical. I'm sure that service is usually better than we received and that were we to order something different on our next visit, we might enjoy it more. The restaurant will probably always be a little louder than I like, but I might plan another meal there some time after the restaurant establishes itself and finds its niche. In the meantime, I would definitely stop in for a drink on a Downtown Disney night.
