What can you tell me about Trails End dinner buffet?

The easiest route is by boat, which you can take from Magic Kingdom or Contemporary.

FW has buses, too, but the system is a little convoluted.

We liked it and felt it was a good value compared to some of the costs of the other buffets. It was also nice to walk around FT. Wilderness...something we normally wouldn't do. They some nice trails and a petting zoo area.

I was not aware of SoG buffet.....although, with no Disney transportation, we have no interest in going there. I have a feeling its not open to the public, only those staying there....in which case, Trails End would be the 'next' cheapest (and easily bus accessible) buffet on property.

Yes. However, Disney Transportation will not take you there. I go to Poly, walk outside and follow a path to Shades of Green. It's about a 5 minute walk. Ask any CM, and they will point out the path.

I have never been asked for ID. I've walked in many times and never had a problem.

We stay at Fort Wilderness so we went there the first two years but this September, after they raised the price from 18.99 to 22.99, we decided it was'nt worth it. The food is good but it's not worth $23.

We're thinking of doing Trails end for an early dinner on our non-park arrival day and the Chip & Dale campfire after. Has anyone done this? What time should we try to do dinner? Any idea what time the campfire is in August and is it every night?

I will go against the grain and say that I thought it was average at best and the chicken was a little undercooked for my liking.

I like the place a lot (though I'm not a fan of the chicken, either). The food is basic and well-prepared, and there's a lot to be said for simplicity. It's a very relaxing atmosphere from start to finish: taking the boat over from MK, the dining experience, hanging out at Ft. Wilderness. You might think it's boring if you like a lot of excitement.

Getting there was 1/2 the fun! We took the bus from POR to MK, then hopped the boat to Trail's End. We all liked the food, and loved the atmosphere.

I have same plan. What I've seen campfire in august is lit roughly 730pm. Not sure of order of things after that -- sing, then chip and Dale then movie? I was thinking of ADR at trails end around 530 to be safe on timing. Anyone done this before?

We've eaten at Trail's End probably 6+ times in the past 10 years. Unfortunately, the food options have decreased and the experience is now very inconsistent.

We originally loved it for the variety & "down home" feel. We especially love the use of the Ball Jar glasses, as I'm an alum of and currently work at Ball State University!

Our biggest complaint is the line. They have tried a number of different sectioning techniques, but the simple fact is, the buffet area is just too small. To have to get into 3 different lines to get my meal (salads, entrees, dessert) and having only one plate/bowl of each food makes this a painstaking process.

As for the food, the ribs are too tough to eat, the cinnamon chips (my fave) have been gone for years, the variety has decreased, and the cost has increased.

My most recent experience was in Dec. We went out there to take in the decorated campsites and warm up at dinner. Well, we were seated near the Take Out Order door. It was constantly opening/closing, so we froze for our entire meal, as well as had to wait an unexpectedly long time to get served. Our experience back in Oct. was better, but still lacking.

It pains me to give Trail's End a rough review, but the decline has been notable over the years. If it's your first visit, you might not notice any of this. The transportation struggle to get out there also drops it on my list. It's such a shame, because I used to think this was a true Disney Gem.

We ate there in December and found the food to be just ok. They seemed to run out of things quickly and not refill very fast. Limited choices, especially if you have a picky eater. My DS wanted ice cream until he saw the bugs swarming it.
It is also a pain to get to, if you take the bus you have to take an external bus to the internal bus transportation which is a pain when you are traveling with a wheelchair.
Also there was no bathroom in the restaurant and you had to leave the restaurant and go down by HDD in order to use the bathroom. Not at all convient when traveling with a disabled family member.
We wont go again.
