We are toying with the idea of heading there in July...... The points chart lists 5 choices... Lodge, Studio, One bedroom, 2 and 3 bedrooms.... I figured out the Lodge is a regular Hotel room and the Studio-3 bedrooms are in a Village or something..... here is where I get confused....

Which area.... How do you request a certain location... Which location to request?? Which airport do you fly into? We are not skiers, but love mountians..... the perk of off season travel! Is there a lot to see i nthe off season? Do they run the lifts for site seeing??

Thanks!

Surf over to www.keystoneresort.com - they have maps and lists of summer activities.

Mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, golfing, fishing, gondola or chairlift rides (take your bike up on the gondola and ride down the mountain). Hard to say how good rafting is as water flows are way below normal.

The easiest way to get there would be to fly in to DIA (Denver International) - 90 miles away. Other options might include Colorado Springs - 109 miles (sometimes it's cheaper to fly in to the springs than DIA - it depends on the air carrier). The closest is Vail/Eagle County Airport, but I've no idea how hard it is to get to that airport, and you'll probably end up connecting at DIA anyway.

I'd also suggest renting a car.

By the way, summer is not off-season (it might be slower than winter, but it can still be busy) for many of these mountain resorts. Also, you might want to look for some good deals; tourism appears to be suffering in Colorado right now because of the drought and the major wildfires we're having - so some places have excellent deals. Keystone is not currently impacted by any of the fires burning in Colorado.

We've been to Keystone twice in the winter during ski season. We have stayed at the River Run section on both occasions. We have had very nice 2 bedroom accommodations and for skiing, River Run is an excellent location because it's a very short walk to the lifts. The gondola lift is open in the summer for sightseeing, River Run is at the base of the gondola. Keystone Village is where the lodge is located. Keystone Village surrounds a lake that is frozen in the winter for skating. Don't know if they use the lake for water sports in the summer, it may be a little small. The Forest Neighborhood is another option for condos, but more remote. This might be a nice option in the summer, we think it's a little far removed for skiing. The website mentioned above has maps of the neighborhoods. When you call to make your reservations, you can tell MS which neighborhood you prefer. We have flown into Denver International, the airport is on the East side of Denver, Keystone is on the west. It's at least a 2 hour drive through Denver from the airport. We usually drive from Texas, and the drive from Colorado Springs, if you take the west loop bypassing Denver, is a much easier drive and actually can be a shorter drive time than driving through Denver from DIA. You have the possibility of encountering significant traffic coming from DIA. Vail/Eagle County only offers service from Dallas on a seasonal basis, so depending on where you're coming from, it may not be an option.

Thanks DBond! Just the info I was looking for! Since skiing isnt an issue, we think we will request something closer to the village!

Thanks again!!!
