What can you Gate Check?

or more specifically how many items can you gate check? My mom will be flying with us in Nov. She usually uses a walker, but we are also bringing her wheelchair since there is so much walking. Can i gate check both these items? There will be 4 adults and a child flying if that makes a difference. TIA!
