It would be nice to bring in an apple or a pkg. of crackers. Also an empty bicycle water bottle would come in handy. I'm sure they wouldn't allow a sandwich but what about a lunchable? The past ten years WDW started allowing food in but I haven't been to DL since 1969.

You can take in anything, except glass and food fixings or large coolers. So yes, you can take your ready made sandwich in, along with chips or crackers, fruit, water bottles, soda bottles, just no cans or glass.....They are very flexible with allowing food and drink items. :)

thank you...bringing in a few snacks would work wonders for our budget...can anybody validate this?

Yes, we've had no trouble bringing in snacks and even sandwiches. Like Pixie said, you just can't bring in glass containers, big coolers or the ingredients to make food there. So you can't bring a bag of bread, a jar of peanut butter and a jar of jelly but you could bring a pb&j sandwich that you've already made.

Yep, I can confirm as well! :goodvibes:thumbsup2

We always take bottled water and snacks into the parks with us. We've never had a problem.

that is such good news for us...we're visiting in may...staying a week...renting a car...

once upon a time when the kids were little wdw used to search the bags. we had a stroller with a weight watchers bag on it...they kept sending us back...finally I got a sharpie and wrote "diaper bag" on the top, and that didn't work either but finally we found someone to let us pass. Now they search you like you're going to an airport but don't stop you from bringing snacks. We usually take one meal a day at counter service and we're a little careful, so we'll be able to come back sooner or stay longer.

During our last trip we carried in the following during our 4 days

full plastic water bottles,
bananas, apples & oranges
cheese & crackers
string cheese
juice boxes & capri sun
goldfish

When you're traveling with a little one, it really helps to be able to bring in your own food. We always bring bottled water and various snacks (the diaper bag has a section that keeps items fairly cool).

Tip: If you want to refill an empty water bottle, the water fountain in the first aid building in DL always has cold water. :thumbsup2

Thanks for validating me everyone. :) OP I knew because I've done it, check my signature for our frequent trips. :) :) They WILL check your bags but they won't make you toss any food or drinks, as long as they aren't in glass bottles. :) :) I've got some Snapples I'm planning to take next week but only for the room, not for the parks. :)

Not a problem at all! We brought in a small (lunch box sized) soft cooler with sandwiches, cheese sticks, fruit, and even a bag with cans of coke in it. Never had a problem and did this on mutiple days. The small soft cooler was great, I brought baggies from home and we filled them with ice at the hotel so our food stayed nice and cool in the california sun (because it was near 80 in January!)

Never had a problem bringing in food. I even stopped at Subway one of the last times before we got to the park and picked up some sandwiches for us to eat for lunch so we could spend more on a nice dinner!

Though, if you have a mace keychain like many of us women do, take it off! They won't let you in with it.. and if it's been on your keychain for YEARS like mine has, you're not even going to think about it before getting to the park!

super...am driving around anaheim in my imagination looking for a grocery store right now...to get provisions...otherwise it snowed yesterday here in KS

Since I don't have little ones, so no stroller, we prefer not to have to cart food and water around....so we will rent a locker to put in our cooler with our food, jackets for evenings, and a place to put any souveniors they pick up (or the certificate from Jedi Academy, or whatever else).

Ice water is easily obtained by asking for it from any Counter Service (Free), so no need to carry a water bottle. (Now we don't go during the heat of summer, at that time I may want to have water often enough to be willing to carry it).

So...go ahead and bring your apples and crackers and some other snacks to nibble on. Even if I wasn't trying to save money, these sound much healthier than most of what you can get in the parks. Fruit is available but few and far between and usually not so fresh looking.

We drive so we take some of our own food, but if we need something we just run to the Target down Harbor (in Garden Grove but there's really no gap between Anaheim & GG), we've been lucky enough to find what we need there every time. :) If you want a grocery store ask your front desk, they can and will happily direct you to one. :)

There are quite a few grocery stores near Disneyland...someone else already mentioned Target.....there is also:

Walmart SuperCenter about 1.3 miles from Disney's gate...googlemap it........440 North Euclid Street, Anaheim, CA.

Vons Market, 130 West Lincoln Avenue, Anaheim, CA 1.4 miles away

We too, have never had a problem bringing in snacks and drinks at DL or WDW. When we took our grand-daughter, who at the time was 14 months old to WDW, we packed all her food and drinks in a soft sided DVC cooler. Security checks all bags but did not say anything.

We actually buy our snacks at Target and packed them in our suitcase so that we don't have to run around Anaheim looking for a store.. We will buy bottled water at the resort and refill the bottle in the park if needed...We also take along crystal light single serves in various flavors. Its a whole lot cheaper than purchasing drinks all day long.

pixiewings knows her disney information. She is a frequent visitor to DLR.

I'm not sure what you are thinking about buying by the term "provisions" so I thought I would point out one VERY important detail about what you can and cannot bring into the Parks. You can bring sandwiches, salads, etc.... You CANNOT bring fixings for these.

Ex: Bologna and cheese sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo. ALLOWED

Package of Bologna, package of cheese, loaf of bread, lettuce, tomatoes, mayo with plans of making a sandwich. NOT ALLOWED

Ex: Chicken caesar salad ALLOWED

Chicken pieces, head of lettuce, cucumbers to be cut, cheese, croutons, and a package of dressing. NOT ALLOWED

Keep this in mind when buying your groceries and planning your daily packing for the Parks. If you have the "not allowed," you will be directed to the picnic area. :goodvibes
