What can I say.....THIS IS ONE WEIRD TOY

I saw this on the news the other day and a lot of parents were outraged. I agree it is a very strange toy.

When I launched the video, I expected to see something horrible. This is a doll that pretends to breast feed with a vest. While I wouldn't buy one for a little girl, I also don't see anything to be outraged over.

Am I missing something? :confused3

Nothing to be outraged or sickened over, but simply totally unnecessary. When my DDs pretended to breastfeed their baby dolls, they just stuck 'em up their shirts - LOL!

I guess I'm missing what the big deal is.. they make dolls that pee, why can't they make dolls that breastfeed?

I don't think it is any weirder than dolls which "actually drink" from a bottler and/or wet a diaper, etc. I have never been fond of dolls that "do" stuff--but if there fine for people who want them. I like nice, quiet dolls that can't leak and do not need batteries personally (and both my kids "breatsfed" dolls when little:confused3; I suppose they would have bottle fed them if that is what they had been around).

If this was produced to help soon-to-be lactating mothers it would be ok. But, the whole idea of simulating adult female bodily functions on an immature female child is just plain disturbing. Isn't the high teen pregnancy rate and social consequences of this sort of thing problematic enough without further romanticizing the notion of child brides? Grrr, it makes me mad because I happen to have a little girl this is targeted at.

Don't all baby dolls romanticize motherhood? They are all targeting little girls, but their purpose is not to corrupt the child...

I don't see the big deal.:confused3 Little girls immitate this every day any way. All baby dolls are made so little girls can pretend to by mommies, I don't see how this one would encourage them to get pg at an earlier age than any other baby doll. I would not have gone out of my way to purchase this doll for my daughter because any baby doll she had fit up her shirt anyway!

What DisneyBamaFan said!

Agreed. The only difference between this doll and any other doll is the way that girls feed it - and it's not like breastfeeding is gross, or inappropriate in any way. Completely normal. :thumbsup2

It's not the notion of breastfeeding that is disturbing for heavens sake, its the dolls movements which are disturbing.

I don't know what kinds of toys other people had when they were kids but none of mine suckled anything ever EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

BTW, there are lots of things in this world which are perfectly normal but that doesn't mean I want my little girl to have dolls that simulate these behaviors.

No, there have been other dolls that made movements to "drink" a bottle.

IF you don't see what I see I'm not going to try and make you agree with me, just don't try and tell me what I see isn't valid. I was responding to the post, not individual posters, it was again other people who felt a need to comment on me that drew a defensive response, and now I feel badly I miht have hurt other people's feelings, sorry for that. Live and let live.

Sorry if I singled your comment out. Your child, your discretion... :goodvibes

Oh goodness, much ado about nothing. I certainly don't find breastfeeding "disgusting" or "sickening". Probably isn't a doll I would run out and buy my DD, but if she asked for it, sure.
