What can I expect AFTER Gall Bladder Surgery?

My dad had his GB out yesterday and they sent him home TODAY. His nurse did tell him that if he had a rocking chair, rocking would help with the gas pains. He's still "enjoying" the pain meds so I'm not sure how much of that is true, but it may be worth a try. Hope that helps some of you:) .

I like that!
That sounds very funny!
It gave me a cute little mental picture:)

I'm still having a lot of shoulder pain and it's been suggested that it would help that if I have more gas... Here's the thread--just please don't out me quite yet. :teeth: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1323364

Virgo, sorry that you're having a rough day! I hope it's an isolated problem or maybe you have a virus.

That thread had me :rotfl: It's still about the same. I'm passing gas so that's not the problem. It's just like there's too much. :confused3 Most of the pain is in my mid back area.

I too can't believe I'm discussing this online.

What happened with that thread was I was in a MSN chat room last night and we were discussing my surgery and it was being suggested to me by a few people that I need to have gas to help with my shoulder pain. I dared one person to start a DIS thread and she wouldn't do it, but we said that we'd get Paige to do it (who wasn't chatting at that moment, but who had her chat window open still). I was joking, however (and had had a couple percocet :rolleyes1 , but Paige came back, read what she'd missed and started the thread. I was ready to die. :faint: And of course everyone was :rotfl2: at my expense (and so was I). And it wasn't that it was untrue...

Like that? He called lastnight to "sing" Happy Birthday to my DS11. My brother said dad had had 6mg of Morphine:scared1: , why did you let him near the phone?? At least DS thought it was funny. Mom will be doleing(sp?) the pain pills from now on.

Checking in here 2 days after surgery - some shoulder and back pain. I had a "phantom attack" last nite that lasted about 30 minutes and felt like a mini-gall bladder attack but it subsided.

Today I have some burping issues but none of the other icky stuff YET! I just had a sandwich for dinner that had melted cheese on it (a huge forbidden food before) so I am sitting here "waiting" to see what happens.

I've only had 1 Lortab since I got home but may pop another one tonite to help me sleep.

Glad T&B and everyone else seem to be doing ok too.

Yup!! They kept him overnight Thursday and gave him IV antibiotics and antiinflamitories in hopes of being able to do the LAP. They went in Friday and found they were able to d the LAP:yay: . He was quit sore Friday night but feeling well enough Saturday after breakfast that they sent him home(my guess is they needed bed space but...). He called 3 times yesterday but I have not heard anything today, so I hope he is doing what he should be RESTING, not playing at his desk on the internet.
