What can I expect AFTER Gall Bladder Surgery?

Good luck with everything today. Definitely let the DH spoil you for the next few days this way you will be well rested for Disney.

I made it through mine and was DISing 1/2 hour after I was home from the hospital. I was released a little over 2 hours after the beginning of surgery (surgery lasted a little ever an hour from start to finish). Didn't have such a great night, which is why I'm up now--hard to sleep, I think my kidneys started to work right so I was in the bathroom a lot, plus husband elbowed me and snored, Remember to take your pain meds and if you feel sick from them you might want to have some ginger capsules on hand to help with that (I was feeling real sick last night and that settled my stomach). I'm feeling pretty crappy now, but that's to be expected--I'm sure I'll feel better once the pain meds kick in (I wanted to take ginger first and eat a little something).

I hope everything goes as well as mine went.

Good luck, Clara!

T&B, I hope you're feeling all better soon! Take it easy and don't overdo it for the next couple of weeks.

The nurse told my DH no housework for 6 months. :rotfl2: I don't think he believed her, though.

Good luck Clarabelle!

T&B, I'm glad you're surgery went well.

Going in for my surgery in the AM. Prayers and pixie dust would be much appreciated! :)

Gifts of flowers and Depends can be sent directly to the hospital or to our room at OKW! ;)

Thanks!

pixiedust: coming your way.... Anyone hear from T&B yet?

I am just going to give you probably the most important advice I wish someone would have giving me (after lap surgery), two simple words: Stool softeners.

Seriously. If things aren't going as normal, in any way, stool softeners are your friend.

Don't ask me to tell the whole sordid story. Let's just say I learned the really bad way, k?

T&B, glad you are home and recovering. Good luck Clarabelle!

You better be careful what you say, PAW. Last time I said underwires were my friend, I ended up with a new tag. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh my goodness PAW, I was coming here to post about the stool softeners and to tell them to make sure they get up and walk around every so often. :rotfl2: That was the worst part after surgery. Luckily it all worked its way out. :lmao:

I thought most people have the opposite problem after the surgery? I really don't want to have this done now. :scared:

Look up several posts. :teeth:

Details... :rolleyes1 ;)

Tag Fairy on aisle 11! :rotfl2:

I guess I should be walking, but that's when I hurt. :scared:

This is a potential side effect after ANY surgery. It's a combination of the anesthesia, being less mobile, and using painkillers. It's not a side effect of THIS particular surgery.

T&B, you NEED to walk, you really do, even if you are all hunched over. DO IT! I don't think I walked enough and I tried to do it every couple of hours even when I was still in the hospital.

Ok, I am going to tell the story with as little details as possible:

1) Thought the doctor did something wrong because of the pain
2) went back in for an exam
3) does the word impacted mean anything to you?
4) wanted to die. Especially because my doctor was a total hottie.

Ok, that's enough to scare y'all into getting up and walking around and taking stool softeners as needed.

Okay my story is't so bad. I felt uncomfortable, I had been warned about the side effect, called the doctor's office to make sure a stool softener was okay, ahhhhh. ;) :lmao:

Jas, I did get up and walk around a bit and will continue to do it every hour or so. I was getting tired of sitting, anyway.

Stool softeners are standing by. :woohoo:

Goofy, I'm taking it a little easier on the meds today. I kind of want to go WPASADI, anyway, and it's hard to do that on too many percocet. I'll at least see how I do this morning cutting back a little (and can then try to work on the latest WPASADI challenge for a bit) and if I start hurting too much I can increase the meds. BTW, Montgomery General was wonderful. So low key and friendly--very different from the alternative. I had a breast cyst removed from the "other place" (also day surgery a couple years ago and everything went well, but it was such a much larger operation. Night and day different!
