My mother in Law passed away and she has a collection of dinsey pins all placed in Pin Books. We have over 26 books and each book has about 100 pins in it. I don't know the first thing about these pins or what they are worth. I did think about selling them on ebay but that would take so much time listing them even if we did it by groups. I am open to any suggestions on how to sell these.
Thanks

Sorry for the loss of your MIL.:grouphug:

There are several things you could do with her collection:

1. Continue it - pin collecting/trading is a lot of fun and you can make some great friends that way.

2. Go to www.pinpics.com and check out the different pins in the collection and see how collectible they are. Many people go there to trade pins and your MIL may have already had an account set up there.

3. You could sell them on ebay or on the sale board at: http://p222.************/bdizpinsboards
There are many pins for sale there.

Be careful - people may start emailing/Private messaging you to pick the collection and get the best pins from you for less than they are worth. If you try to sell them on ebay spend some time doing a search of similar pins that have sold in the past. This way you will have some idea of what they sell for.

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to email or PM me.

If you like you can send me photos / scans of the pins and i will take a look and give you an estimate value .. some pins might be worth a few bucks , but generally do not expect more than 3 -4 USD per pin for the whole lot ...
Probably you want to sell the "good" pins seperately on ebay and sell the rest in trading lots for 2 -3 USD a piece bundled in 50 piece lots ..
I do collect since 99 with 5000 pins in my collection so i might know what i am talking about .. :-)

many greetings

Stephan

wellllll.............

you could give them to me!
No, j/k but i am willing to buy some from you. PM me if ur interested, i really dont care what kind they re as long as there official disney pins. I need to buy some trading pins for my next trip.

Can I ask if your MIL was computer literate? If so was she a member of these boards?
I would like to know if she was one of us DIS collectors that might have left the boards. I would hate to have one of us pass away without knowing who she was and not being able to pay her and her family respect.

In addition to that, if she was on www.pinpics.com there is a possibility that there already exists an inventory of the pins, and from that it would not be too difficult to get an idea of the relative values of the pins even though quite a bit or research would still be required.

If you decide to do something charitable with any of them, I happen to know of a wonderful charity that spoils some kiddos rotten at WDW that would love to have some of them. Maggie

As you can plainly see, you will have no problem getting rid of them if you'd like. I would encourage you to find out what all of the fuss was about and possibly continue her tradition, or help your kids too if you have them.
My deepest sympathy for your loss.
...t.
