What can I do in DTD after leaving the Wonder and before 3pm flight?

We have a rental, so I thought I'd do something for a few hours before our flight. I have seen people talk about going to Downtown Disney for the day. What could a group of 12, including 6 kids ages 4-10 do there. Also, how long does it take to get there from the port, and then from DTD to MCO? Thanks

Took about 45 minutes to get to DTD, and less to get to the airport from there. The young kids will love the Lego store; they have a play area with a small tyke playground and areas to build with legos. When my boys were younger, their favorite part was to build cars and race them down the ramp. I love shopping at World of Disney. Another must do is Ghiradelli's ice cream. They have a special item, I think it is called the Earthquake, that is a sundae with eight scoops of ice cream, multiple toppings, and whipped cream. The kids love sharing that! We also stopped at the Earl of Sandwich to buy lunch to eat on the plane. They had pretty good food.

Ditto the Lego store. We actually drove to Universal Studios and walked around CityWalk for an hour before realizing that we hated it there and hopped back into the car and spent the rest of our day at Downtown Disney. Seemed odd to be ending our trip non-Disney, so I'm glad we went to DTD. We had lunch at the Earl of Sandwich, let the kids play at the Lego store and had a nice and relaxed non-rushed trip back to the airport on time.

You should go ver to the "Disneyland (California)" section of the DIS Discussion forums....there are regulars there who live and play in that area. They can add to any recommendations you already have. Enjoy your stay here!

We are going on the 1/30/05 Wonder, and we are going a day early just to do DTD.

I think you will absolutely love it. Let me share with you my tentative plans...we are planning on doing DTD during the day. They have the world's largest Disney store there, not to mention our favorite ice cream parlor in the world--Gharadelli (sp?). We always get a big sundae there and split it four ways (they are very expensive!!!).....I will echo the other posts above about the Lego store; it always where my two boys want to go first. Last time we went, my girlfriend and I just sat in the shade while our husbands built all kinds of things with our kids on the outside play area. It's the best.

Now, something else you might consider is the Boardwalk. We are going to do dinner there at Beaches 'n Cream. I've never been there, but I have read so many posts from others who heartily recommend it. The boardwalk is also a fun place to visit because it has lots of entertainment actually on the boardwalk.

What I don't know what to tell you, though, is how far it is from PC. Everything in Disney is fairly close, so you should be able to do it if you wanted to...we usually take the boat over; it's another bit of excitement for the kiddos!

Good luck in whatever you plan and have fun! :)
