What can Disney gift cards be used for?

This is not how you get deeply discounted gift cards. By gong to Target you are only getting 5% off. By purchasing them online or with fuel rewards like others do, you can save 10-15%. I'll take that for 3 minutes of sitting on my butt any day.

yes but when you buy them online don't you swtill have to go to target? NOw I totally admit that I'm not familiar with all the tricks but I also totally admit that from what I can follow on these threads on the budget board it's a lot more than 3 minutes a day.

How do you turn them into Disney cards? Now the only site I'm familiar with is raise. So I buy the cards at raise (which the maximum discount I see on there is 1.5%) then spend time, energy and money to get to my nearest target to exchange them for Disney cards for a grand total of maybe 5% sorry in my case that's a whole lot more than 3 minutes and it's certainly ain't sitting.

Where else do you buy them online? what are fuel rewards? I tried goggling and the only thing that came up was Shell fuel rewards. Also I looked up cardpool and all the target gift cards seem to be ecards that can only be used on line.

I'm still confused on how you're getting 15% discount. and once again I've only been reading about them here so I maybe missing something. from what I'm reading in order to get a 15% discount it involves me buying discounted giftcards on line then using a target red card to get an additional 10% discount and combining that with some thing else.

Am I missing some thing?? I'm sticking with my cc, that does not seem like 3 minutes.

I have purchased GCs at Target to pay for everything at WDW, resort, food and souvenirs. That 5% doesn't seem like much but over the course of 1000s of dollars its a nice savings.
I purchased them online and in store, which isn't a hassle for me since I'm there often enough.

Cardpool's stock changes regularly. I shop there frequently and have bought physical Target cards several times, mainly when they are on sale. The last time, they were 6% off I stocked up, but we shop at Target regularly. Rarely does a week go by that my wife isn't there at least once.

If Target is not somewhere you normally go and you don't have one near your home, none of this would make any sense for you.

Thanks disneysteve,

I haven't been to target since Christmas to give you some idea of how often I go. i do have enough cc points to get about 300 in target gc and I'll probably
Have close to 600 or 700 dollars come trip time (august) since I use my chase rewards to pay everything. I was just wondering if it was worth the hassle of getting a target redcard or joining an online gift card site.

Closer to my trip I'll get a few disney gc but with my points I can also get visa gc's for greater flexibility as we also enjoy eating off site

There does not involve one trip to Target. Giftcardgranny.Com tells you which website has Target Gift cards discounted the most (when I checked this morning it was 4.5%). You then go to Target.com and use those Target Gift cards that you got 4.5% off and also 1% back from your credit card AND get 5% off with your Red Card even though you're using your gift cards. They are then delivered to you. Free of charge.

Edit to add that I just noticed you don't have a Red Card yet. That's the first step. Having a Target Debit Red Card doesn't cost anything. I highly recommend it.

Our grocery store issues fuelperks, ten cents off a gallon of gas when you purchase fifty dollars in gift cards from the grocery. They just ran a Disney gift card promotion, which was twenty cents off a gallon when you purchase $50 in Disney gift cards.

OP, we stay off site and I like to use them for parking at the parks. That's a good amount of money that adds up and it's nice to have it "prepaid."

Wow, I didn't realize you could use gift cards for parking. I have been making an envelope for each day with $17 in each. I may have to rethink that.................especially when I could get the card(s) at BJ's at a couple dollars off! Thanks for that info!

We also buy them from the grocery store for fuel rewards. We buy $500 ones when they have .20 off a gallon of fuel for every $50 you spend. So when we buy $500 worth and we get our fuel (30 gallons max which we always make sure to get to get the most for it) we save $60 at the pump. While we aren't getting a discount on the gift cards, we are in a way getting a $500 gift card for $440. Thats a 12% discount.

I also like that because then we don't have alot of gift cards. Don't know if I'd do the target thing since I think they only have $50 cards. Seems like we'd have way too many of them.

Can I use multiple target disney gcs to purchase park tickets?
At a ticket booth - yes. Online or over the phone - no. If you create a DVA and then fund it with Disney GCs and make your ticket purchase online - yes.

Disney Vacation Account

disneyvacationaccount.disney.go.com

Which also earns you a $20 bonus gift card for each $1000 that is applied to a Disney Vacation

It is actually per $1000 spent out of the DVA. Just putting the money into the account does not earn the bonus GC.

I never thought of that. Do you find it slows things down, though? I would think it is much faster to just hand over cash, even if you have to give them a $20 and get change.

I've only been once and done it but it certainly didn't feel slow at all.

Not a dumb question but when all is said and done, some have managed to save more than 10% on their gift cards. Buying discounted Target Gift cards (also getting 1% back with your credit card) and then turning around and combining your Target Gift card with your 5% off from your Red Card to me is worth it if you plan on spending a few thousand dollars with Disney. No need to carry them around - you can apply them towards your bill every couple of days if you want and leave them in your room the entire time. If you don't stay at Disney, only take what you'll need daily.

You can no longer use your Target Pharmacy Rewards to get the additional 5% off.

Didn't see this until now... but you are sure? When I went in at the beginning of March and asked, they said I could use both. I got my Pharmacy Rewards today and it said I could combine with my Red card for "additional savings." When I asked why the Disney gift cards got the discounts, she said it's because they ring up as gifts, not as gift cards like the Target ones do.

We have always used gift cards to pay for our trips. 5% off at Target and free gas when buying them from the grocery store is a big deal to me. Saving 5% here and there adds up.

Unless things have changed from two years ago, you CAN use multiple Disney gift cards over the phone. I know you can't make the payment from the regular Disney phone number. I can't remember if I found the number here on the Disboards or just called Disney and had them transfer me. It took forever reading all the cards though. And the CM messed up on one of the cards and that took multiple phone calls to straighten out.

For this upcoming trip I used Disneyvacationaccount.com Very easy to enter the card numbers and pay for the hotel and tickets from the account. I even canceled a reservation and the refund was put back in the account right away.
