And I mean, what camper websites do you use for shopping for a new camper? I have been using a few, the only problem I am running into is that the camper I am interested in is already sold.

The last two I have called about...sold, and not sold today, sold over a week or two ago. (How about updating the website!)

I have my eyes open, but none until after the first of the year...I think it is a Jan. thing around here....

I checked over 100 website all over the US for a motorhome in a 8 month time span. i checked 7 dealers daily for three months and checked ebay several times a day. I was willing to travel to get the best deal.

Shows are a great place to go, however, we found 3 places on the web that had a good selection. 2 had a very good selection, and only one that had the best selection. ( at the time )

I contacted the dealer and asked for the most easy going sales person on the staff. We corresponded by email for over a month. Let him know our list of units and when we were coming down. When we arrived 4 off our list were sold, but he had another 15 on his list to show us.

we viewed our list and his list.... and choose none. we stumbled on the unit we bought just by chance...

my point.. units come and go, and over time you will get to know the buying trends, vs when to act on a unit. no matter how much planning or looking you do, it all seems to be by chance anyway...

we loved our looking experience. i pray you will have just as much fun as we did and find yours soon

peace

Rhonda--I agree, it would be great if someone on the Dis would just sell me their camper...I mean, I can list the requirements, and if you have it, then I'll buy it!!!!

Pappy--I agree that it is all by chance. I even have my Dad looking in Ohio while he is visiting our cousins. He will take any excuse to go back up that way at any time! I am enjoying the search, although, not so sure my DH is as much as I am. I took my 3 DD's today to look at a camper, my 5 year old whined the entire time there and back. She said, "JUST BUY ONE ALREADY!" LOL!:rotfl:

thats awesome! lol

My DD's are older, but were part of the looking. I gave them both a pad of paper to write there likes and dislikes so we could compare.

may i also add.. we found by going into a unit or two, then asking the sales person to leave, we found by spending time and "living" in the unit ( trying out everything using situations, ie someone stand in the kitchen "cooking" while another tries to walk around. kids playing in the living space, can you walk around, can everyone see the tv in all spots, shower/ potty space... we dont like curtain stick while showering :upsidedow ) a pretend campout if you will .... that made it more fun for the girls and us.

i can look in Illinois if you would like... i love to look for others

Of course you can look for me! I would never turn down such a great offer!

We are looking for a bunkhouse, with at least 3 bunks, or, the full size bunk with the bunk above. (Does that make sense?) Other serious preferences are the weight, we can't currently pull over 8200 pounds. Also, the "U" shaped dinette is a preference, (but, not a deal killer) not smoked in, no pet damage, and in good shape. We do not want a project.

That is about it.

I like the idea of having a pretend camping trip. That is a great idea! I will try that next time.

Have you looked at any KZ campers? They seem to get pretty positive ratings on rv.net. They have lots of campers especially the Spree line that have bunks and u-shaped dinettes. We liked the 289KS. Jayco also has campers with bunks and u-shaped dinettes.

These guys are in WI but they have a large following of customers from all over that buy Tiffin motorhomes from

These are in IL

These don't carry KZ but get pretty high reviews on rv.net

We bought both our campers on Craigslist.

Have you looked at any KZ campers? .......

We bought both our campers on Craigslist.

We just bought a KZ Hybrid and love it! It had everything we wanted including 2 queen bunks and a toy hauler so we can bring a cart to the Fort!

We bought our camper van off Ebay and the popup off Craig's list so I agree those are great resources as well :)

I would like at Ebay and craigslist. you can put zip code in for ebay for distance.

Google map your zip code and you can enter RV stores and usually they have inventory online so you are getting good feel. Are you looking used or new?

We are looking for new or used. If it is used though, it can't be a project. (We are just not project people!) I have looked at all the websites people have suggested, thank you so much everyone!

Another website is RVDIRECT.com. They carry a couple of manufacturers that RVWHOLESALERS doesn't. One to look at might be the Jayco 29QBHS,
this has quad bunks in the back, along with a slide and U Shaped dinnette. This is very similar to our Jayco 31BHS, and we love it.

Once you find a floor plan you like, then start looking for used models on sites that others have mentioned. We found ours used (2 years old), but
it had only been used 3 times. Still smelled new when we saw it...

Have fun finding exactly the right one, and Good Luck. We love Camping.

Just wish I could get back to the Fort more often.
