What brings a tear to your eye?

One day last week I had a really hard day at work. DH and DD picked me up from the train station and we headed home. Once I got home I proceeded to take off my uniform (I'm in the Air Force). Well when I walked into the house I noticed a towel bunched up on the floor next to the television stand. I started to ask DH why was the towel on the floor but decided to just leave it alone, may be DD (5) spilled something and he was blotting it up with the towel. Anyway, after changing clothes, I sat on the couch and DH said "are you ready"? I said ready for what? He removed the towel from the floor and hit play on the video camera. It was the tape from last summers vacation in WDW. It started off with us in the hotel, then heading to dinner and so on for the rest of our vacation. I instantly started bawling as I watched the video, just thinking of it now has gotten me tearing up.

Watching the castle change colors and the serinity of the MK durning E-Rides night.

Walking down Main Street for the last time before heading home.

Landing in Orlando (Because we have made it)!!!!

The entire experience of Main Street USA brings a tear to my eye. Before we even hit Disney property, the smell and humidity of the Florida air when we get off the plane makes me feel so excited to be back in the vicinity of WDW.

Kerlynne-I always cry at the start of the movies too:o The little Walt Disney castle and logo does it every time and I have no idea why:confused:
Coming home from WDW makes me cry the hardest:(
Driving through WDW gate
All parades
The music in front of the castle
Seeing WDW through the eyes of my DD's
(Note to myself-don't forget to put Kleenex in the fanny pack:p )

Quote from previous post on this thread from Eyore: "and then I told her the story about the wonderful person that worked at ground zero and how much it helped him"

That person was me. And to drive my point home a little more, if I were to give you more details of my upbringing, it might shed more light about how moved I was:

I was raised most of my life on a military base by staunch Republican parents who also happen to be strict Catholics. I am the middle of three boys, no girls in the family. Hence, this lead to a "no tears, no display of emotion" attitude.

And to tell the truth, the tears I shed came as a big surprise but boy did it feel great to let go!

The only other time I get choked up is when I get off It's A Small World and I think of how my dad took me on the ride as a little boy time and time and time again without question. The ride itself immediately brings Dad to mind and it illustrates to me as an adult how he did indeed show his love for his boys. He may not have expressed his emotions verbally or physically, but what dad would risk pending insanity by taking his son on IASW four times in a row just because his kid said "Can we go again please Dad?"

WDW truly does bring out the best in all of us!

On this past trip, it was the opening ceremony at MK. When the train pulled up and all of the characters got out, the look on my daughter's face was priceless. I cried during the whole show.

Oh- who else loves seeing the signposts change to official Disney ones and the Mickey electricity pylons as you start getting close to WDW?

These stories are all great- thanks for sharing!

And I thought I was the only big softie.....!!

I think by the very virtue of being a Disney fan, we're all softies at heart!

What brings tears to my eyes-- everything about my DD. Disney Memories - She had a Make A Wish Trip to WDW 2 years ago and it was so magical. Disney sure knows how to treat these kids. As we watched the parade at MK one afternoon - one of the girls dancing around the Cinderella Globe spied my DD and immediately came and got her and danced her all around Cinderella and Prince Charming. Also, she really enjoyed getting character autographs and our first afternoon we ran into the Country Bears - one of them (can't remember his name) came and got her and escorted her to all the other characters around. My DH and I had a hard time keeping up with them. On our last day we were back at MK and was walking through the castle and out comes a line of characters like you wouldn't believe. The same Country Bear sees my DD, stops and motions us over and plays and plays with her. The CM tried to get him to move and he just kept playing - finally he started down the ramp and motioned for us to come along, so we went down to the front and he came and got her and took her around again. She still talks about it and it still brings tears to my eyes. Thank God we are able to go again this year (on our own, not with MAW) and she thinks for sure he will remember her.

Thanks to these people that really made her Once in a Lifetime Trip so special!!!!

*sniff*

You all have me tearing up here at my desk!!!

None of these are original but for me its:

The montage at the end of the Animation Tour, I cry every single time.

"We Go On" from Illuminations

And watching people interact with the characters. Wether they are young or old people can't hide their smiles when Mickey comes around, it's wonderful!

Tamie

"We Go On", and anything that has to do with Illuminations

"When you Wish Upon a Star"

"A Dream is a Wish your Heart Makes" (Cinderella's theme... we heard this one at DL this year; bought the CD)

And the very beginning of the movie at the end of The Magic of Disney Animation... screen is black and you hear the gunshots of Bambi's mother... you hear Bambi say "Mother?".. tears me up even now. I have never been able to watch that movie!

Arriving on property and being thankful that we are fortunate enough to again be able to visit our most favorite place on earth. The wonder in dd eyes when she first sees "our castle" again.

This might be a boring one, but my first walk down main street and the site of the castle coming into view and then seeing the Partners Statue. The music on Main street. A lot of people run down main street to hurry to the rides, I STROOOOOOOOOLLLL, especially if its my first time into the park on my vacation. :earsgirl:

Oh my goodness. I can't believe I forgot the preshow to Honey I Shrunk the Audience. The "True Colors" presentation.

I even get choked up when I hear the song on the radio at home just thinking about the pictures they show.

That is my absolute favorite preshow. :p

me too, I could take or leave the actual show, but I LOVE the true colors preshow!!!!

Anytime I hear "When You Wish Upon a Star". I sang it to both of my boys (15 and 2) when they were infants.

The ending song in the American Adventure and all the pictures of the great Americans.

The Civil War part of the movie in The Hall of Presidents in MK.

Watching videos that were taken at WDW of my 15 year old when he was 3.

I don't think my moment exists anymore...

I used to speed into the MK first thing in the AM to hear the opening announcement, while standing at the rope waiting to chase to Splash or Space Mountain. That was always the most touching part of my trip. The calm before the storm! LOL

The other two things I love is watching Tinker Bell fly and when all the lights go off on Main Street for the beginning of SpectroMagic or the MSEP. For that matter, all the lights clicking on at dusk really gets to me too!

I always get teary-eyed when I see a little girl dressed like a princess interacting with the "real" princess that she is dressed like. The awe in the little girl's eyes is precious! ;)
