What breed is this?

I hope this link works.....they are calling this a cross between a daschund (sounds like they may be sure of that part) and a jack russell. I don't really see either of those things, plus I'm thinking it may become bigger than they are expecting. What do you think it is? I'm really tempted....

I don't see either of those things either. I'm thinking a small terrier like a cairn or maybe something like a ****zu...it's seems like a generic lap dog to me. Pretty cute!

The link did not work for me. nevermind it was my computer

I have long haired doxie and I definately see that in this dog. Looks cute, can I have one....

What drawbacks have you found with yours? Anything I should be wary of? Does it get along with other dogs? Thanks for any light you can shed, and for confirming part of its heritage! ;)

I definitely see a daschund. I don't see Jack Russell, though. Not sure what else is in there.

He's an atypical doxie. He generally is a lap dog, but has his typical doxie moments. He LOVES the cat, but he tries to eat his fur, so we keep them separated. He likes playing with other dogs, and we've never witnessed a problem with him and other dogs.

Sorry - I do not see the doxie in him at all. Something about the face/nose just doesn't look very doxie - although it could be the camera angle. Looks more spaniel to me - like this. http://www.angasstar.net/archivedpuppypage.htm Scroll down about mid-way to the black and tans.

I can see long hair dachshund:

Don't see Jack Russell but "looks" isn't necessarily a good indicator.

The thing I would be "concerned" about is the JR part. They are great little dogs but HYPER is an understatement.:rotfl2:

Buddy Baby is very adorable. :cloud9:

But he is probably neither breed. Look how big he is in that person's hands! A 6-8 week old miniature daxy or small terrier would barely fit in the palm of that person's hands.

I'm thinking he will be at least a medium-sized dog, possibly a German Shepherd-cross.

Are you going to meet him?

They are probably thinking Jack Russell because of his tail, even though that's a very poor indicator. Another possibility is that they have no idea and they are just trying to think of two breeds that are easily adopted out.
I do see some log haired dachshund traits though. Definitely standard and not a mini for sure. He sure is a cutie - I'd take him, whatever you want to call him!

I see Rotteweiler for sure....and some type of herding dog there with that snout.

I don't really see doxie there. I think they are full of it. 25lbs max....?????? That is a complete load.:lmao:

I have a long haired Doxy as well and I can see the Doxy in the puppy. Boy that's a cute little pup!!

We are having a heck of a time house training the dachshund, we have a husky who was house broken in under a month. We've had the dachshund since July and still have LOTS of accidents!! But let me tell you, it is welll worth it. I have never had such a LOVEY dog...she's great!

I agree with you. He's going to be a lot bigger than a doxie/Jack mix.

I see some shepherd too...or maybe border collie.

My youngest one is a doxie/jack russell mix. This guy looks nothing like him. I can maybe see the doxie, but certainly not the Jack Russell. And that weight sounds awfully high for the mix of breeds. My Matthias is about 13 lbs, and the doxie in him was standard size. He stands just a little taller than our purebred mini dachshund (who is slightly bigger than mini dachshunds are supposed to be.)

This is the day I brought him home last year at three months:

Yep I see the long hair doxie, but I also see a bit of rottie in him too. or maybe shepard?

...Max 25 lbs? NO WAY! maybe more like 50 - 70 lbs, but not 25.

He sure is a cutie though!!

Having done rescue for years, I do not see any jack russell in him....maybe a bit of doxie; to be looks more like a shepherd mix. If he were my rescue, unless I knew his parents, I could not in good conscience say he would only get to 25lb...however with that said I would have to evaluate him in person, so maybe they are right. He looks decent size now for 8 weeks old, so if it the weight that you are worried about, I would suggest you pass.

Here is my corgi – shepherd mix; then (at 3 months) and now.
