What brands of clothes does your 7th grade DD wear?

Since no one has addressed the running gear, I'll give it a go.

DD12 is also going into 7th and she plays select fastpitch, so we need work out gear year round. We have picked up some inexpensive shorts for practice at Target recently, like in the last couple of weeks. She's picked up work out gear in two different spots at Target. First place is the women's work-out section, usually with the pj's and lingerie, second place is the boy's 4-20 department. I know, sounds crazy, but the XL Champion shorts actually fit her really well and frankly, a lot of the girls seem to be wearing 'boy shorts' because they seem to carry that type of style all year for the boys. BTW-these are the long (knee length) basketball shorts, I'm referring too. They give her more coverage and she feels more comfortable squatting in them, DD is a catcher. I believe Target also carries a Champion line of work out shorts and t's in the girls department. I haven't seen any of this type of clothing in the junior section.

If she is planning to participate in sports you may also want to consider looking at getting her a sports bra. DD picked up a couple at Walmart that she liked and they also carry them in a variety of colors (I saw neon colors).

Aeropostale is a no-no around here after elementary school. My dd is not very fashion conscious but wears skinny jeans from PacSun(the 00 or 0 fit her) t-shirts from there also. She likes Nike sneakers and Converse. She wears tanks under everything.

DD is starting 6th grade nextweek. Elementary to middle school is a huge change. I buy dd clothes from JcPenny, khols, sears and 1-2 things from justice. I've had to step in a few times and remind dd she's going to middles school so some of the stuff she picked would be ok for elementary but not middle school-lol! I told her to wear some jean shorts or the capri type jeans with a cute tank top. We bough her some vans and low converse.

I think it depends on the area. I see kids with skinny jeans boys/girls. shorts , tanks tops, leggins . Its more of a casual dress here and not a lot of high maintence. i think that will be ib high school. I'm not sure what brands are popular. There are 3 middle schools in the area. Theres and uppity one, not sure about the 2nd and the 3rd which my dd will go to that others consider ghetto. i think because there are some lower income housing near there. We live a a lil less then 2 miles away in a middle class area and I like the school but it depends on the kids that attend that will determine the style.

I wont buy hollister and Abercrombie or expensive brands . DD goes through growing sprees. Shoes I will buy name brand but only if on sale

opps 7th grade I see.

Yeah Justice stuff is for younger kiddos. Try Kohls she may find some brands she loves there in juniors. We don't always have to shop at malls to find stuff teens like.

Middle school aged girls here seem to not be all that into particular brands which makes things a lot cheaper! Its the style that counts.

Skinny jeans are a favorate. Shoes of any brand that resemble Vans or Converse are popular.

I'm thinking it was right around 6th grade. . .It was still Limited II for us. . .my daughter wanted everything from there. . .to NOT wanting anything from there in a heartbeat. I was relieved. . .so overpriced.

Here Justice is done by 4th grade. I was also delighted when my kids didn't like it any more. Way overpriced, and very cheaply made clothing.

Aeropostale is a no-no around here after elementary school.

Interesting regional differences. I work at a university, and Aero is still popular with college kids--I'd say it's probably the brand you see most often.

Yes, DD wants converse tennies so that must be in here too. She was wearing older sister's hand me down Limited II clothes in 5th and 6th grade until she finally told me nobody wears that and she didn't like pink. She asked to go to Aero so we'll definitely go there. And tanks/camis are definitely popular here too.

Thanks for all of the advice. Anymore thoughts on running clothes?

My daughter is going into 7th grade. Her new favorite store is American eagle. She reallt likes Hollister as well, but we have gotten less there this summer. She used to really like Aero, but she may be over that. I really wont miss Aero at all. The clothes were not cheap and did not last long at all.

My dd is 5 and Justice is all she wants to wear because that is what the other kids are wearing...when does Justice become not "cool"?

4th or 5th grade around here. My DD7 (going into 2nd grade) was all about Justice last year and still likes it this year. DD11 (going into 6th) has no interest in Justice - too blingy.

Aero and American Eagle are popular for 5th grade through middle school around here.

My son does cross country as well. we recently got him running clothes and shoes from Road Runner Sports. Not sure if you have one near you. They are also online though. At the store near me, we get a 10% VIP discount (member program) + an additional 10% off because he runs cross country. They have a good selection of running items. The key is to get comfortable, breathable items as they put in a lot of miles. Also, our coach wants shoes replaced every 2 months - yikes! So I just bought 2 pairs. They were having a weekend VIP member sale, so I saved a ton. And if his feet happen to grow in the next few months I can exchange that 2nd pair for a larger size.

I would think most sporting goods stores have running clothes as well.

my DD is going into 6th, she is picky about style but not about brands, she's budget conscious (so far, at least). So she waits for sales and tries to get more outfits for her money. She likes aero and Justice but will wear Target and Old Navy. I hope she stays this way. We need to hit up some thrift shops. Our Plato's closet went out of business

jeans and most stuff comes from Delias. Also: Hot Topic, Roxy, Rue 21, Hollister for hoodies.....but she goes by what she likes and not labels, so she has stuff from Target, Penneys, Old Navy.

she currently has a Gift card from Hollister with lots on it, but the summer stuff just isn't her style - too low and too tight. So, I am hoping she will use it to get some hoodies this fall.

Shoes and sneakers she seems to care about brands. We go into Aeropostale but she just never seems to find anything.

we are getting a Plato's closet soon - can't wait to try that - for buying and selling!!!

:):wizard:

I guess I've been lucky so far. DGD, 13, has yet to ask for any specific brands. She asked for skinny jeans, but she doesn't care where we buy them. I found some "super skinny jeans" at Old Navy yesterday on sale for $10.

I got those, too! and she liked the target ones that were on sale for $7

can't wait for skinny jeans to go back out of style for adults, lol

I don't know about the track clothes, but I have bought most of my sons football stuff at Sports Authority. They usually have a 25% off coupon. . .or some such special going on. In store, I can usually find some good clearance items as well. HTH

What cracks me up is that they sell "plus size :confused3 skinny jeans"! Frankly, I'm glad I'm old and don't even have to pretend that what I wear is in style.

Aeropostale is a no-no around here after elementary school.

Am I the only one who finds this ironic, seeing as how Aeropostale does not carry children's sizes?

Eh, my middle-schooler is a boy. He could not care less where his weekend clothes are purchased, only that they are comfortable and in colors/patterns that he likes (meaning black or grey, primarily.) At school he wears what the school decrees.

PS: I agree, "plus sized" skinny jeans are an oxymoron -- AND a fashion disaster. One of the kindest things that anyone can ever do for a bigger girl is to make it clear that following fashion is almost always a mistake when you are larger -- big girls have to have their own style. Unless you actually enjoy looking like an ice-cream-cone-shaped-idiot, you have to go for flattering, regardless of whether or not it is "in".
