what brand purse does you teen carry?

My 14 Y.O. carries Vera, and Juicy. I hate the Juicy bags so she has to pay for those herself. She saves her babysitting $$ for months and then goes to Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Her school backpackis Vera. She had to pay $65 toward the backpack. I covered the other $30. It is very cute:cutie:.

10 Y.O. also is a vera bradley girl. Right now she is trying to save for the frill duffel.

I had to go and look them up too. My girls would hate that. I on the other hand think they are pretty cool.

So yea, I would say you would have to be a girlie-girl to sport a Vera Bradley, which my dd's are not.

The are huge here (Md). My 10 Y.O. is most definitely NOT a girlie-girl. Most of her clothes are some form of black or have skulls somewhere on them. She carries the vera w/ them:rotfl: So do most of her friends.

My DD has a nice black fabric purse trimmed in 'leather' from Target, it's small & she usually wears it on her shoulder.

For schoolbooks she always gets a black Tommy Hilfiger tote. This year we got one at the Hilfiger outlet but in previous years we've gotten them at Nordstrom Rack. The bags are always well-made and last through a year of hard use.

agnes!

my mom used to buy me these all the time:

i have several of them. they're big and roomy, and pretty useful.

My kids carry whatever they can find in American Eagle, Pac Sun, Target...etc. No designers for them. They like the big roomy bags. I did buy them all little wristlet Coach knock offs from a purse party...no way would I ever pay for the real thing...so not worth it. Me, I refuse to spend more than 40.00 for a purse for myself, I sure wouldn't spend it on my kids. Thank god they do not feel the need to own stuff like that

LOL, my DD13 doesn't carry a purse.

We live in a pretty high income area. All the kids around here have Coach, Jucey (not spelling that one right) Prada, etc. Before I had kids I bought myself a bunch of little Louis Vuitton bags. I wanted to sell them on ebay because I never use them anymore, but DH thinks I should keep them for our daughters! We know we can't afford LV for them when the time comes, and thats pretty much what all the kids use around here. Of course hes not really serious, but time will only tell........
I went to highschool in a very rich community (lots of celebs in town), and no one had bags like the ones the kids are using now. One kid had a Prada, but that was it. Times sure do change (and I'm not that old!).

My DD carries a Coach purse and a Hollister tote for her books. Every now and then she "steals" one of my Vera Bradley ones for a little while. She is right in step with her classmates around here.

My daughter has several Vera Bradley, Liz Claiborne, and one Coach bag. Pretty typical for her school.

As a teen I always carried a Vera Bradley or a Coach. :)

Well, its a good thing God gave my daughter to me!!!! She is twenty now, but she has always had a "thing" for handbags and shoes! Got her first Coach bag in middle school (and we were off!!!), then went on to Kooba, Longchamp, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel. She takes extremely good care of her bags and rotates carrying them. They are "investments" to her. We do not support buying fakes. Quality lasts and classic styles are timeless.

When I was a teen not that long ago, I carried mostly LeSportsac purses (that's also still the case). I see a lot of Coach, Louis Vuitton, Dooney & Bourke, etc around, but I don't know if they're real or not. I'm 23 and I still haven't got a Louis Vuitton or Dooney & Bourke! I did get a Coach wristlet last Christmas, though, in addition to a really ugly Coach handbag that my aunt got me when I was pretty young.

I just want to say, I hate fakes (they're illegal and as far as I'm concerned, stealing). There are so many great bags out there, if someone can't afford a real Vuitton, Coach, Dolce, etc. - don't look foolish and get a fake (it's glaringly obvious), buy another brand. I've also read the state department and interpol issued statements that say counterfeit bags help fund terrorist activities. :scared1: Seriously - is it worth it?

I certainly respect your feelings regarding fake bags, but the rest of your statement came off as quite pompous and snobbish. Maybe if the "rich" kids weren't flaunting their wealth so much, the "poor" kids wouldn't feel the need to play keeping up with the Joneses.

Some off brand she got at Pennys. Purses have never been a big deal to me and they are not a big deal to my DD. I buy whatever I can find that is cheap and will hold what I need it to hold. I carry it until it dies and then replace it with another of the same quality. Oh...I'm not a shoe person either.

You sound like me.

My daughter isn't really into them either. She'll buy Fox, or whatever current purse PacSun is selling, but she's never wanted an expensive brand. She does LOVE her clothing however. Even at that though, Abercrombie is about the most expensive that's she's been interested in.

I don't get the shoe thing either.

When I was in high school the only girls that carried a purse where the ones that were smoking in the bathrooms :lmao:. I still have a hard time getting away from that stereotype :lmao:. DD14 wants a coach purse. She will probably get one for Christmas.

MIne carries Coach and Dooney & Bourke.
She also has a couple of Louie Vuitton...but those were a gift from an aunt.
She has a couple Abercrombie totes.....but she uses them as "backpacks", not as purses

DD 18 is currently carrying a Hatley bag that I think was meant to be a small diaper bag. She found it at the outlet on sale for $5 and says it is comfortable and roomy enough for all her junk.

For dressier things or when she just wants a small bag, she has two small Coach bags. And a Fossil wristlet.
