What Brand of Luggage Do You Use?

We're going to pick up some new luggage for our next trip, since we've worn our old set to shreds over 12 years of family vacations. We generally pack fairly light, and share luggage as a family of four. What brands have y'all found to be durable, reasonably priced, and (least important) attractive?

TIA :)

My "real" luggage is & has always been Samsonite. My parents had the old hard sided stuff (light blue to boot!) growing up, and my mom swore by it. My HS graduation gift was a piece of Samsonite luggage (because my granparents had given that to my mom in 1961 & I guess she thought it was still all the rage in 1989 :confused3 ) I added on to that piece, and then switched to all black. Never had a problem with any of it.

For my "fun" luggage I have some Ralph Lauren & Vera Bradley. I love the VB, very soft, very roomy, lots of compartments. I have a lot of different VB patterns & get lots of comments on them while traveling.

I have a black and white rolling backpack with 2 outside pockets and an outside water bottle holder from Walmart ($20.00) that I have used for the past 4 years as a carryon. :rotfl2:

I swear by the eBags brand Mother Lode eTech duffels. We have 2 of the "Junior" variety, which are the mid-sized ones. It's extremely well made, designed, and durable. My 2 bags have been through baggage handling 16 times so far, and they still look brand new. Even the dirt from baggage handling wipes off easily with a damp cloth, since they're made of ballistic nylon. eBags has a lifetime warranty as well. If you wait around for a 20% off sale (which is pretty often if you google for a coupon), the price isn't too bad. These are called duffels, but they're not floppy like a traditional duffel.

I used to buy cheaper luggage from Walmart, Target, etc but it kept getting destroyed after 1 or 2 trips. Samsonite and American Tourister quality is spotty now, depending on which model you buy. Even my Delsey suitcase (which was expensive!) only lasted 2 trips before the frame was shattered. I paid around $115-$120 each for these eBags duffels, but I seriously think they'll last me forever.

They also have a larger version of the bag, but you'd have to be careful not to go over the 50 lb limit since they're so big, and you can put more in them. The medium size version works well for 1 week trips.

These are the ones I have: http://www.ebags.com/ebags/mother_lode_etech_junior_25_wheeled_duffel/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=54633 There's another version of it called TLS, which is almost double the price, mostly because it is about 2 lbs lighter and is expandable. I have the eTech version, which is less expensive.

I use Ricardo luggage. I use the largest size bag though. You can fit a LOT in it!

:cool1: Thanks all! Gives me plenty of places to start looking!

We actually probably won't be flying this trip as some of our grand gathering is plane-paranoid. But we intend to get luggage that will work well for future flights. (Like maybe Adventures by Disney Ireland one of these days...)

Tara, I had an old hard side Samsonite suitcase in olive green that I used for summer camp my whole childhood. I think everyone's parents were given those for graduations or weddings for a 40 year time span.

DH and I actually packed for our last Florida trip in two carry-ons, so a large duffel-style bag might work. We should have plenty of space, but the more room I have in the trunk the more stuff I can bring back!!

I use Reaction by Kenneth Cole - if you check TJMaxx, Marshall's, etc, they normally have good deals on brand name suitcases.

Tumi is very pricey but it last forever. I also have a tumi messenger bag which I damaged and sent back to Tumi and they fixed it for free.

kenneth cole? i forget, it was the one on sale at Macy's at the time.

The Ricardo. It holds up forever. And you can fit a lot into it.

Though I did have a Samsonite duffle bag on wheels that has lasted through a lot. My cousin borrowed it go abroad 3 years ago, I have yet to get it back. She's basically traveled around the world with it and have had no problems.

I just bought a set of the disney luggage from Disney Shopping .com and cannot wait fo use it for out trip in Aug.:goodvibes
