What did you ask for when you were growing up when school started?

When I was around 10 I had to have Asahi tennis shoes. (do they even make those anymore?).

When I was in high school I had to have Guess jeans. I woundn't wear anything else.

Jordache, Calvin Klein. I was a late 70's/early 80's teenager. DD and I were looking at school clothes the other day and I had her try on a pair of Calvin's that were on sale. She wasn't very impressed. My how time's have changed!

My parents would have kicked our butts if we asked for certain brands.

I remember coveting a pair of canvas Nikes back in the early 80's when they were just becoming popular. I knew that my parents wouldn't have bought them, so I saved and saved until I could buy them myself. I think they were $30 or something like that. :)

anything from the Gap believe it or not.
my parents didn't have much money when my brother and i were younger...we shopped mostly in bradlees/caldor/jcpenny/bob's.

when I was old enough to babysit/work...I started shopping for my own clothes and doing so in the gap...it was a big thrill for me.

As long as it wasn't hand me downs I didn't care

Nike, Izod, Guess
We weren't as well off as many of my school mates, so my mom would buy name brand stuff at garage sales.
Did anyone have a Coca-Cola sweatshirt phase when they were growing up? I remember one year that's the one thing everyone wanted and my mom finally bought one for me on sale...the following June! lol

For those of you who were teens in the 80's, did you ever have a pair of Converse Hightops that you wrote all over? Loved those things!

I didn't ask for much but I had Nike shoes, Lee jeans and a Members Only jacket. This was Jr high.

In high school I don't think I had much but Rebok shoes. My clothes mostly came from Lerner then.

I made (sewed) 100% of my own clothes (except for jeans and winter coats) all through high school and college.

Z Cavarici, I know that's spelled wrong.....Zena, Jordache, IZOD, Addidas.

In the late 1980s/early 1990s, all I wanted were a pair of Eastland loafers and a Liz Claiborne purse. I had a pair of knock-off Eastlands, but I did manage to get the purse. I had to buy it myself, though.

Actually the same was true in my house for me :teeth:

I remember Keds shoes though... but fortunately they weren't that expsensive and I could be happy with a knock off brand ;)

None! I still don't care what brand of clothing I wear so long as I like it and the price is right!

Esprit, Camp Beverly Hills, Tretorn shoes and swatch watch.

Polo, Guess, Izod and I remember having someone smuggle me red Gazzels (Sp?) sneakers from Canada. Does anyone else remember them?

Guess jeans, Eastlands (and then we would do the laces in that funky curly loop thing), Benetton, Esprit...

I remember a brand called Lizzie and I always wanted that because I my nickname was Liz and I thought that was cool. ;)

I remember I once had this Guess short outfit that I LOVED. It had white shorts and a white vest like top that looked almost sailorish. I was standing in Fantasyland on a Disney trip and someone came up to ask me a question. They thought I worked there! I never felt the same about my beloved Guess outfit. ;)

I remember Keds, Guess, Bennetton as well.

I remember loving my ESPIRIT bag... the shoulder bag with the writing on the side of it.... loved that.

I had converse and penny loafers. Also the Kangaroo's with the quarter in the pocket. Remember those.

I can't really remember much more. Once I got into High School it was Gap.

Good thread!! Let's see... I wanted (and did not get- my mom was and still is tragically un-hip;) ) anything from the Limited, clothes from Express when it was known as Limited Express, Benetton, Guess jeans, Esprit, especially those big, huge bags, Liz Claiborne purses were "it" at my high school.
