What book are you reading?

I just finished "Without You: A Memoir of Love, Loss and the Musical Rent" by Anthony Rapp. Really beautiful story about losing someone you love (with info about the start of the show for your inner Renthead, like me). Started "Strip Tease" by Carl Hiaasen last night. Not one of his better ones, I don't think, but the only one I have not yet read.

Kill The Messenger by Tami Hoag. She's a great author.

I just finished reading The Catcher in the Rye and I am on the last chapter of The Cat Who Went to Heaven by Elizabeth Coatsworth with my 5th grader - there are only 52 pages, though. :teeth:

I think I will start Native Son or re-read To Kill a Mockingbird next. I already mentioned it in other threads, but I am reading classics now and I sometimes add non-fiction, especially business books.

I just finished "The Final Victim" by Wendy Corsi Staub. I started "The Cherry Cheesecake Murder" by Joanne Fluke today. Hopefully it will be as good as all the other Hannah Swensen mysteries.

50 Cedar Cove, I think it's the 4th book in a series by Debbie Macomber.

Favorite book of all time is To Kill a Mockingbird... and those of you who would love to read about another Boo Radley'ish character should read:

The Ha-Ha by Dave King

I just finished it Thursday and it was WONDERFUL :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I agree. "The Ha-Ha" is a very good book. This is a book that all would enjoy. :)

I am reading "A Place Called Rainwater" by Dorothy Garlock, and it is pretty good. She writes pretty good suspense romance. I just finished "I, Elizabeth", about Elizabeth I, but I cannot recall the author. After my current book, I will probably read a biography of Anne Boleyn. (I am facinated by English royalty, can you tell?)

Amy

I am reading 'Deception Point' by Dan Brown at the moment. Haven't really gotten far enough into it to decide whether I like it or not yet though, only the first few pages. Just finished reading 'Digital Fortress' also by Dan Brown. That was good, but I preferred reading 'The DaVinci Code' and 'Angels and Demons' more. Have also just finished re-reading The Icewind Dale Trilogy by R.A. Salvatore - I love his books! :goodvibes

I'm a historical biography nerd...I'm reading "Mary, Queen of Scots and the Murder of Lord Darnley" by Alison Weir. I love her books and am particularly fascinated with the English Monarchy.

I know...I'm a dork! :thumbsup2

I just finished "The five people you meet in Heaven" - LOVED it!!
I was at BJ's today and got the latest Jodi Picoult novel - I absolutely love her books. Her last one about the sisters (I forgot the name) had me in tears the whole novel.

I have been reading "Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim" forever. I just can't get into it...although it does have its funny moments. Next on my list is "DaVinci Code" (I am one of the few readers who actually hasn't read this yet!) and Kite Runner. The last book that I really enjoyed was "The Curious Incident of the Dog at Midnight" (I think that was the title). Anyway, it was excellent, and very different.

Right now, I'm currently reading three:

Nickel and Dimed, by Barbara Ehrenreich--pretty good book, but depressing as all heck.

Moonraker, by Ian Fleming--I started reading all of the James Bond novels last year (after seeing the films zillions of times), and they are quite good, very different from the films--more grounded in reality. Although, so far, Moonraker has a feel very similar to the film Bonds.

The Stand, by Stephen King--I just started re-reading this for, I'm sure, at least the twentieth time. It's like phoning your dearest friend whom you haven't spoken to in ten years, and all of the memories and good feelings just immediately start flooding over you.

And, if you are interested in three excellent non-fiction tomes, try these: The Perfect Storm, by Sebastian Junger (as for the movie, it's like a high school drama department interpretation of the vastly superior book); Into Thin Air, by Jon Krakauer (the Gold Standard of non-fiction harrowing adventure tales... I LOVE THIS BOOK!); and Under the Banner of Heaven, also by Jon Krakauer (a highly controversial, jaw-dropping account both of killing in the name of one's god, and the history of the founding of a uniquely American religion).

Rereading The Order of the Phoenix.......one of the Harry Potter books........and just picked up a new Dear America book about the reporter families who followed the building of the transcontinental railroad.

I'm an elementary teacher, so I'm always reading kids' books!

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" is on my to-read list. Thanks for suggesting it. :)

I'm almost finished with "Dragonfly in Amber" the 2nd book in the Outlander series by Diana Galbadon. I decided to try this series after reading about it on the Dis and I'm hooked!! I plan to take a break between the books of this series to read something else, but I can't wait to get to the next one!! She's a great writer and the story is fascinating!

I think I'll read "Catcher in the Rye" next - I'm trying to read some classics that I missed in high school/college. Oh so many books to read and so little time.....

I just read Daniel Isn't Talking by Marti Leimbach. About a a couple with an Autistic child. Non Fiction but hits home. I enjoyed it.

The Motive by John Lescroart. It is very good. I just finished State of Fear a couple of weeks ago and found that book good as well.
