What book are you reading?

I'm rereading "Les Miserables", by Victor Hugo. I read it about 10 years ago, but saw the play last week and wanted to read it again. I love everything about that story!

I'm an elementary teacher, so I'm always reading kids' books!

You've GOT to read The Penderwicks!!!

I'm not reading anything worth anything right now, but I just found out that the new Jonathan Kellerman is waiting for me at the library. :bounce:

I'm reading Into the Wilderness by Sara Donati. I'm a Diana Gabaldon fan and this book is supposed to be similar to her books. So far, it's OK, though I like Gabaldon's books a lot better.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" is on my to-read list. Thanks for suggesting it. :)

That is such a good book!

I just started "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire the other day. It's starting to get interesting.... I haven't read a book since the last Harry Potter book came out.

I'm almost finished with "Dragonfly in Amber" the 2nd book in the Outlander series by Diana Galbadon. I decided to try this series after reading about it on the Dis and I'm hooked!! I plan to take a break between the books of this series to read something else, but I can't wait to get to the next one!! She's a great writer and the story is fascinating!

I think I'll read "Catcher in the Rye" next - I'm trying to read some classics that I missed in high school/college. Oh so many books to read and so little time.....

I love Claire & Jamie! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. You might want to check out this site:

Catcher in the Rye is a good read, too.

I'm almost done with The Cottage by Danielle Steel. I'm not sure what I will be reading next but I'm sure I'll find something.

The Stand, by Stephen King--I just started re-reading this for, I'm sure, at least the twentieth time. It's like phoning your dearest friend whom you haven't spoken to in ten years, and all of the memories and good feelings just immediately start flooding over you.

This is a book that is well worth re-reading! King's best!

I'm a bookaholic. I think I responded more to this thread than I have to any other. :sunny:

East of Eden by John Steinbeck. It is taking a while to get through it, but it is interesting and enjoyable. But I'm thinking that it should take me a good month to get through it.

Shoot. I've been reading that sucker for a YEAR! It's on my nightstand and I keep picking it up before bedtime. It's really, really good, though.

Almost done with A Million Little Peices by James Fry(intense but good eye opener) and gong to read Tuesdays with Morrie next. Don't know what next but I have a nice list to To Reads from this thread.

The Life of Pi , by Yann Martel

This is a Canadian book about a young Indian boy who finds himself stranded on a life raft with a Tiger. It's a little gory at parts, but is an interesting mix of survival, adventure zoology, and faith :)

I highly recommend this book!

I just finished 'Shopaholic Ties the Knot' by Sophia Kinsella. All of the Shopaholic books are great. What I consider 'summer reads'.

Good! I hate the "searching for something to read" periods! Sounds like I should be set for a good while! :)

I recently finished Tenth Circle by Jodi Picolt (I think I have the incorrect spelling of her name  ) Now I am reading The Kite Runner. I am also a teacher and I recently read Al Capone Does My Shirts which is a 9-12 year old novel. I really enjoyed it!

Has anyone read the Ladies #1 Detective Agency books? What did you think? I keep picking this up when I visit the book store.

I am on the second book in the Christ cloning trilogy by James Beauseigneur. The concept is interesting....a scientist successfully clones a human using DNA from the Shroud of Turin. The plot jumps around a lot and the characters are hard to keep track of...but it's just starting to grab me. My son's girlfriend read the whole trilogy and says the 3rd book is the best, so I am sticking with them!

Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister was good...I thought better than Wicked. Next is Mirror Mirror.

Memoirs of a Geisha was a page turner for me as well.

I am reading a book called 'The Traveller's'
I just returned from England and it was number 1 and 2 (?) on the best sellers list and though I am halfway through it, I think it is the most bizarre book?!?!?!
