What book are you currently reading?

Im reading Lord of Chaos by Robert Jordan. Its like book zillion in a gazillion series. My husband suggested I read them so sure, no prob. Good books but Im never going to get thru them.

I'm really into this book I'm reading by Tom Whitmore. It's called my Mother is a *****. It is really good, strange title, but the book is surprisingly good. So far, I'm not finished with it yet.

OMG these are still being published? DH owns the first 6 or 7 and I started reading them about 10 years ago, got through 3 or 4 and gave up. It seemed never ending then and I can only imagine that they are still circling around and around.

I just finished reading The Baron in the Trees by Italo Calvino. Hes an Italian novelist and is just legendary in his storytelling. I highly recommend you read "If on a Winter's night a traveler" by him first, but this book was very good as well. I think he helped to translate his works which is why it is still well written even though not in its native tongue

On another note..has anyone read the Virgin Suicides? I saw it in the bookstore the other day and read the first couple pages. It seemed interesting, but what were your thoughts? I'll bet its very dark.

I think they started in the early 90's. My husband is a fantasy buff so I decided to read them so we can talk about them. Can you believe that there are 11 books out now, not including the prequel and there could possible be another 2. I tell you what, if the guy dies before he finishes these books I will be maaahaad :rotfl2: I need to finish so I can start another book. I have a policy, no new books until the last one if finished.....stupid rule, really

Just finished reading "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. Wow! Totally captivated me, I didn't want to put it down.
Glad to hear that -- our book club picked it for the September read!

I went to the library yesterday. For the first time they had a new shelf of what they call "Great Finds" which are current books. They only let you take them for 2 weeks and no extensions. There was the new Dean Koontz book on the shelf The Husband . I didn't get that because he has disappointed me in the past. Some new one by Nora Roberts, and the new one out by Anderson Cooper. I ended up with Digging To America by Anne Tyler. I sure hope it's good.

Of the regular shelf, I picked up Oh My Stars by Lorna Landvik. She wrote Angry Housewives Eating Bon Bons which was good. I hope this one follows suit.

Two days ago I finally finished Plain Truth by Jodi Picoult. Very good. I try to get her books at the library but they are NEVER in stock. I end up having to buy her stuff at the used book store which irritates me. I'd like to read more of her stuff but I won't go broke doing it.

I read Digging To America a couple of weeks ago. Its a typical Anne Tyler book. She is one of my favorites, but this wasn't one of my favorite books. It wasn't bad, but its wasn't knock your socks off great. I should add that it was my hospital waiting room book that I read when DS was having surgery, so that may have jaded my view point!

I think I did read a review that it was just okay. I have read a few of her books and some are okay and some are good. I can't remember the name of the last one I read but I enjoyed it. It was the one where it followed that one woman in the same neighborhood. At the end, she kind of had some sort of dementia or Alzheimers and died in a car accident. Why can't I remember the name?

Anyway, that one was pretty good.

DH and I both like fantasy/sci fi - he's more into the sci-fi than I am. But we've both given up on Robert Jordan. The Terry Goodkind series is the same way, we own the first 3-4 and got behind and never caught up. Small children have a way of cutting into your reading time. :rotfl2:

I pretty much read fluff, especially this time of year....right now I am reading Something Blue by Emily Giffin.
I just finished Something Borrowed and Something Blue. I loved them both, but I almost liked Something Blue a little better.

Right now I am reading the "Shopaholic" series. I just finished Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, and I am moving onto the next one.

I have seen mention of Jodi Picoult on here a lot!

I am reading her newest book, The Tenth Circle. I was lucky enough to find it at the library!

I have also been reading the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovic this summer! When I finish the Jodi Picoult book, I'm going to start the 10th book!

Unfortunately, this was one of her books that I did not care for. And I paid for it.

I just finished THE CELL by King. Eh... started out good, but crashed and burned for me. I am now reading ISOLATION WARD ..typical medical mystery. OK but not great.

Next up is HOUSE. I have a few long plane trips ahead of me and that's gonna be my airport read.

Just finished reading "Dead Watch" by John Stanford and "At Risk" by Patricia Cornwell - both were fairly decent thrillers.

Uh oh! Well.... I'm about 1/3 way through and I don't mind it yet. I guess I'm lucky I didn't shell out the $$ for the hardcover! :cool1:

I love the Shopaholic series!! In case you did not know this (which I did not until a friend pointed it out to me recently) Sophie Kinsella and Madeleine Wickham are one in the same. I think Kinsella is actually her pen name. I read Cocktails for Three by Wickham not too long ago and really liked it.
