What book are you currently reading?

I just finished Eves Daughters
I dont remeber who wrote it, but it was awesome.

"April Shadows" by VC Andrews. Her books are like trainwrecks, you just gotta look. ;)

Marley & Me
by John Grogan

Actually, I finished it once and I'm reading it again ;) There were parts where I laughed out loud. Very good book about the author's experiences with his yellow labrador retriever.

I just finished off Jodi Piccoult's My Sister's Keeper and I have to say it was pretty good. I was really crying; my husband thought I 'd completely lost it. It's about a girl who was born to be a donor for her sister's medical problems, and at the age of 13 had said "Enough." It was very touching.

Re-re-rereading the Harry Potter series; currently in year 5, Order of the Phoenix.

I'm right in the middle of Digital Fortress by Dan Brown. It's a little hard to understand what he's talking about since it has to do with code cracking and algorithms but I'm really liking it so far.

Currently I am reading a "three in one" that I got at the bookstore. It's three of the Lillian Jackson Braun books form the series "The Cat Who...". Nice leisurely reading. I am also reading the new Roberto Clemente biography- very well written-great for sports fans, biography lovers and the forever fans of "Number 21"!

I just finished James Patterson's #1 bestseller-Beach Road.

The ending was a shocker , unexpected and kinda made me mad, I guess you have to read it to understand.

Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Thurston. All I can say is WOW. The story is great but the writing is phenomenal!

The Dream series by Nora Roberts. again.

I just finished Digging To America by Anne Tyler. If you like Anne Tyler, you will like this one!

For those that have read "Eragon", do you think a very advanced 8 year old could read it/would like it. He's a great reader and is on the last Harry Potter book and I'm wondering if he would like that series. Is it very scary?

My son LOVED Harry Potter. He didn't find Eragon as good. He read some and his Dad read some. That was two years ago when he was 8. My dh read some because my son either was bored or it was too difficult. My son said it was boring, could have been a little hard to read. His best friend loved it. They are both voracious readers.

MARY MARY by James Patterson----eh, so so. :confused3
I'm 1/2 way through this one and I agree, so so, so far

The Secret Supper by Javier Sierra. It's good so far; an interesting look at Da Vinci from a perspective other than Dan Brown's.

He may like it. I used to drive a school bus and some of the kids who saw me reading said they loved it and others didnt. They were probably around 9 or 10. So if he is a good reader at 8 I say go for it.

Right now I am reading Holy Fools by Joanne Harris (who wrote Chocolat)
Can't get enough of anything Johnny Depp and he could definitely play the male role in this too.

I think Eragon might be a stretch even for an advanced reader at 8. If it's a child very into fantasy, then he/she might "get it" but otherwise it will be a LOOOONG and painful journey through a world that doesn't make sense. My son whose an advanced reader read it at age 10 and didn't like it at all, but he doesn't enjoy fantasy reads. It is a cool book, though, as it was written by a 13 year old.

Finished "Chinatown Death Cloud Peril", now I'm reading Break No Bones by Kathy Reichs (another ARC edition) which I guess is a series that the show "Bones" is based on. Since I haven't read previous "bones" books, it makes no sense...but I'll keep going since it's an ARC I need to read.
