Thought Id bring along a pbk just in case I get a chance to read either on the plane or sitting poolside. Im a great people watcher though so not sure how much reading Id get done. Didnt want to borrow a hardcover from the library so I splurged and bought a pbk (at lib 40% disc) So I'll be bringing -
Down by the Water by Caroline Upcher - "go down by the water with beach gear, sunscreen, cooler of drinks" sounds like a good cruise book

So what are you bringing to read?

When we cruised in January, I took Skipping Christmas by John Grisham......nice and short....and surprise, surprise, it's about skipping Christmas so they could take a cruise.....and then...........

you'll have to read it yourself!;)

Trying to limit how many I bring is the problem!

I have had The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen sitting on my desk for at least 3 months, so that will be first.

Scott Turow has a new novel but it's hardcover and I am not sure I want to lug it.

I Don't Know How She Does It: The Life of Kate Reddy, Working Mother by Allison Pearson - supposed to be hilarious

I have been wanting to read the Lovely Bones but I don't think that's appropriate for a cruise.

DD8 is bringing her last Little House book and then will start up on the Lemony Snicket series or the Artemis Fowl books.

Any other suggestions?

IMGOINGTODISNEY --

Something tells me that you aren't going to have time to read a book... unless it's the 3-ring binder that you're assembling - LOL.

My guess is also that you'll be at the Internet Cafe quite often, giving a blow-by-blow report to everyone - LOL!;)

Don't know what I'll be bringing in January (my books don't hang around unread that long) but right now I am reading "Seabiscuit" and it is a great read! Really fascinating.

Mcnuss, DS8 will be getting some Lemony Snickett for Christmas to bring with us. I will probably read them with him... the guy is so funny I wouldn't want to miss it!

on past cruises, except the last one, I always took a book. To be honest, I never read any of the books i took, because i was too busy relaxing! HA!

I'm bringing "The Lovely Bones" but if that gets too heavy, I'll also have a Mary Higgins Clark book.

This will be our fifth cruise, first on Disney. I'm kinda disappointed that Disney doesn't have libraries on their ships. In the past I've discovered some good authors from the ship's library!

For me, one of the most wonderful, relaxing ways to spend time on a cruise is to sit on deck, cold drink at hand, smelling the sea and feeling the breeze while reading a good book.

Reading is one of my favorite activities, and unfortunately I don't get much time to do it at home!

I don't know what I'll bring in January, but I'll probably get a Barnes and Noble gift certificate for Christmas that I'll use for something good!

Well, I'm just a LITTLE behind on my reading ;) but I have the fourth Harry Potter book in paperback ready to go for my December cruise. I got into the whole Harry Potter thing pretty late but know if I start the fourth book now I'll read all 700+ pages before our cruise, so it's sitting and waiting.

I'm hoping to have some quiet time to read on the ship. :)

DH thinks I'm crazy, but I have a stash of true crime paperbacks all ready for our Thanksgiving Wonder and January Magic cruises. Maybe it's because of my psychology degrees, but true crime absolutely fascinates me. Of course, I also like V.C. Andrews as a guilty pleasure...for a person who has been dead for YEARS now, she sure is a prolific author!

If I hadn't already read all the Ann Rule, Sidney Sheldon and Jeffrey Archer - I might have something left for the airflight and late evening quiet time. Seabiscuit was excellent - fabulous story about an incredible horse and the men who trained/loved him written by a woman who suffers with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome - all around success story.

Have received many good reviews about an oldie "Rich Man Poor Man" and might bring that along.

To me, a vacation isn't a vacation unless I have a good book and from the Disney cruises I've taken so far, I'm not alone!!!

I think I"m going to pick up the new Maeve Binchy book. I, too, want to read "The Lovely Bones". Maybe I'll bring that one as a back-up.

On our 4 day cruise I brought along a book for each family member picturing reading on the veranda and by the pool. Well, nobody so much as opened a book the whole time. I shouldn't have bothered bringing them, we were just too busy.

Sonya, half the time that happens to me too! The only time I've done a significant amount of reading was on our three-peat...it was one of my greatest pleasures to curl up in the Rainforest with a good book. But I always like to have good reading material just in case of bad weather and for airport/airplane reading too. I'll bring a lot of books for our 7-day in January, but if it's anything like last time, we will be so busy that I'll barely look at them. I might even (gasp!) book less spa appointments because there is too much to do on the Western. Of course, we are in 5650 on that trip, so I might just have to "force" myself into some verandah enjoyment time...nothing beats a good book and an extra dessert on my favorite verandah.

I am a big reader! I'm reading all the time....but I just couldn't fit it in on the cruise. If we were flying I would definitely get in some reading but we are only 3 hours from the port so we drive it.

If I were bringing along a book it would be one of the ones by an author I have just discovered. Micheal Palmer....He writes medical mysteries...I think that's what you would call it anyway, kind of along the lines of Robin Cook. His newest one is called Fatal which was quite good. I've also read Natural Causes and have 3 more of his stacked up by my bed.

Other favorites of mine include James Patterson and Robert Parker and Catherine Coulter. Unfortunately I've read everything by these folks and have to wait on a new novel to come out.

I'm also waiting on a book I have on hold at the library called The Nanny Diaries which sounds pretty neat. I think I'm like #220 out of 500 or so holds on this book so it may be quite a wait.

The Nanny Diaries is a GREAT book! :) That's one of the few I bought in hardcover...I've lent it out to so many people I don't even know where it is any more! :)
