what bit me last week while at WDW????

They are definitely bites (well, at least I am fairly sure) because I got them while outside at WDW... there are only about 6 of them all together, and they are not all in the same place. Two of them are on my lower left leg, one is very high on my outer left thigh, two are them are on the back of my right leg, and I think there is 1 more someplace. lol They don't all itch at once. And I was wearing shorts all last week, so its possible that some kind of flying bug bit my lower legs and were able to fly up under my shorts. :confused3 I have NONE on my torso or arms though, which is kind of strange. If they were mosquito bites, you'd think I would've gotten some on my arms, too.

Edited to add: They are definitely fading, so I don't think I need to see a doctor. I'm more just curious than anything else. If the bites were not healing I'd definitely call the doctor.

We also just returned with bites. The description matches exactly! Only one of us though. DD has them, they are fading, and I remember alot of little flying bugs around our ankles when we were eating in Mexico twice.

I have bites just like those described that are on my arm. I was also bitten 3 times on my neck (nope, not vampire bites!) Never knew when I got bit but they go from itching like crazy to periods of not even noticing them....until they start itching again. This happened 2 weeks ago at Disney so the little buggers sure do pack some nasty "venom" for it to keep lasting so long.

I'm sure it's not fire ant bites. I have been bitten by those and you KNOW it when that happens. It hurts!

so that's what caused our misery last week! Don't get me wrong, we still had a good time because we were at Disney, but it would have been nice not to have constant itching  I just googled noseeums and they symptoms match my husband and I exactly. I had 28 bites on one leg alone! Luckily it had gotten cool enough midweek that I wore capris instead of shorts to hide some of them...they were ugly bites!

Will bug spray work? Bugs usually LOVE me and my kids--and oddly enough don't touch DH!! (I guess we're sweeter!:cutie: ) Anyway, has anyone found a type of bugspray that works well?

I saw a thread before we left about bed bugs do you think it could be that. My hubby has 6 on his arm. They itch. They look like you described. I have had no see um bites they are smaller than what my hubby has. That is weird that everyone's looks the same. Wonder what it is.

I wondered the same thing, but I did check my bed when I first got there, and also I believe that I got these bites during the evening while I was outside, I didn't wake up with them.

P.S. Whatever the heck they are, here I am a week later and they still itch from time to time! THANKFULLY I only have a few of them!!

I checked our beds too. We stayed at POR. The thread was about that resort so I was a bit freaked but I found nothing. Also he was the only one with bits. He couldn't remember when he got them. He still has his too.

most likely no see ums - of course after reading this post yesterday I ended up getting bit up by no see ums yesterday while gardening. I am itching and itching - lovely - guess I better stock up on the anti itch stuff!!

I did some research on this, and I am going to purchase the Skin So Soft Bug Guard Plus, with Picaridin.

It said it repels no see ums too, as well as mosquitoes and biting flys. You can also spray it on your clothing without it destroying the fibers. The only thing negative about it, you have to apply it more often, from what I read, and be sure and shower it off when you come indoors.

No, I'm not an Avon rep.

Has anyone tried this product, or the Cutter Advanced with Picaridin?

We were there last week and DD had 2 bites just like you described. She was itchy too. She never complained after the night she was showing me them, so I will have to ask her how they are now.

I was at WDW last week and got a few bites... they're on my legs, about 6 all together, and they're STILL driving me crazy! I can go for a half of a day and not scratch them and all of a sudden they'll start up again.

There were a LOT of lovebugs out last week; do they bite? If not, are there any other bugs down in WDW that do bite? They've left small red circles with a small blister in the center of each one. I don't think these are mosquito bites, and I don't remember seeing any mosquitos. :confused3

Thanks for any info...

I am gonna say they may be No-see ems or Horse Fly. The reason I am saying horse fly is I got bit by these at the AKL a few years back while waiting for the bus and kid you not I landed up in the hospital when I got home. My leg started turning red where one bit me and then a huge blister appeared. I also got bit on the other leg and my finger. Doctor addmitted me overnight on antibioit IV for 24 hours and to be assured it did not spead any future. Then I was on antibioit for 10 more days at home. Scare me to death since I am a diabetic they had to take precaution. Go see a doctor you may be allergic to the bite.
