my biggest one is when people call a non stop flight a direct flight. a direct flight is one that makes one or more stops along the way with no change of planes in volved.

another one is when you get a great rate on something and then the agent questions you as to how you got it. or if you use a coupon they act like its fake or something. (I am referring to ones printed off the web)

and the worst is when you are at a resort room and you happen to have a connecting room and the people in that connecting room let their kids play with the doors and they keep slamming it. and then they keep trying to open the doorknob on the door leading into your room. last dec at the BWI this happened to us at 5 am with someone just arriving and their kid kept opening the door and I got up after the 5th slam and unlocked the door and then when he opened the door again I scared him. the parents said something to me in some language but they shouldn't have let their kid do that at 5 am. needless to say he didn't do it again.

I know I have more but this is the worst of them.

My pet peeves...

"Bin hogs" who try to carry on everything they own, as well as people who aren't able to manage their own luggage. If you can't put it in the bin without assistance, check it!!! People who don't fly often in general, who bumble and fumble trying to figure out where their seat is. Forget that there are 186 people behind you. And people who jump in line and try to board out of order.

Dirty hotel rooms.

Strollers with drivers who run into people because they're too busy looking at the scenary.

People who allow their kids to kick seat backs, and run through hotel hallways yelling.

People who don't bathe or wear approparite attire. Just because you are on vacation doesn't give you the license to not bathe or don appropriate attire. Leave the stained sweat pants and ripped Winger shirt home please.

Mine are....

Not getting the whole can of soda on a flight. I am pretty thristy when I fly and I could easily drink 2 cans of soda. The little bit that fits in those dinky plastic cups wouldn't fill a thimble w/o ice. I have spent enough on the price of the flight for the airline to afford to give me one single can of soda.

Staying in a high rise hotel and being put on the 1st or 2nd Floor. This hasn't happened often as I usually request a higher floor, but when it does it makes me angry.

When flying during the day, not when you would normally sleep, and a person puts their seat all the way back as far as it can go during a meal service or drink service on an airplane. I hate having to eat or drink with the seat back 6 inches from my face practically. When this happens I usually wait until later, when I think the person is asleep and 'accidentally' bump the seat a few times. I don't mind this during a night flight when you are supposed to sleep, but when the person is obviously awake and has the seat is all the way back it really gets me ticked and it really isn't necessary.

The high pressure for insurance when you rent a car. I can't stand this. I decline it one time, don't keep asking me or telling me about all the risks. If I want it, I will take it. I don't want it, I wish they would back off. I am looking forward to EA this upcoming trip so I don't have to deal with this one.

I could think of more I am sure, but these are the biggies for me.

People who jump lines as they feel they have paid so much to go there they have rights to things before you do.....

People who do not control their children in restaurants and let them bother other diners by screaming or throwing things or running around under other peoples tables...

People who talk all the way through rides and in shows in loud voicesso you cannot hear what is going on...

People who do not feel bathing or deoderant is necessary in hot climates.....

People who stand and talk right at the exit way to rides and shows so you have trouble getting out of places....

I dislike the moment when we start to board a plane and the medallion fliers are called to board first. It seems like over half of the plane is filled before regular boarding begins and the overhead bins are full by the time anyone else has boarded the plane.

I also hate the person who reclines their seat into my seat and then proceeds to try to rock the seat like it is a rocking chair. This happened to me last week coming back from Atlanta. I was sure that this man in front of me was going to end up in my lap with the seat. Now I know why there is so much air rage.

I can't figure out US Scareways. On one flight everyone gets the whole can. On the next nobody does. On a short 1 hr. flight you get a meal. On a 3 hr flight, a bag of snack mix.
Personally, I usually don't want the whole can, and can see the reasoning behind not giving it out. (They always will give you it if you ask, however.)

As for my pet peeves....

People who jump up and stand in line by the gate when boarding of the plane begins, even before their row has been called...it just slows things up for everybody else.

Those stupid little golf carts that run you over at the airport. Especially at Charlotte and MSP. There isn't room to walk in some of the airports to begin with.

People who bang you on the head while stowing their enormous carry on luggage.

People who stow their luggage in the front and then go sit in the back of the plane.

Miles and miles of those orange road construction cones, when there is no road construction actually going on.

Toll road machines that take your change and don't give you credit for the toll paid.

People who dart back and forth from lane to lane cutting people off in traffic (without signalling.)

People who do not control their children in restaurants.

A couple of times they wouldn't give me the whole can. Not on USAir, I actually forgot the carrier. I mean I understand not offering it unless someone asks, but to say no when someone asks..... I really can't figure out why, unless they just like to be difficult or seriously are afraid of running out of soda. Anyway, I always make it a point to hit the FA button and request more Soda when they are done with the drink service. They love that. It would have been easier just to give it to me when I asked....... :)

weird thing is I can remember a time when usair made a big thing aobut giving a whole can of pop....then to cut costs they stopped it.

I have pet peeves when flying as well as driving!

When your baggage gets checked-in first but are the last ones off the plane and onto the carosel.

When they keep telling you that the flight will be on time up until boarding and then it is suddenly delayed or cancelled (sometimes you can tell it'll be delayed before they tell you - when there no plane at the gate)

When you (or your kids) REALLY have to go to the bathroom and you're not suppose to get out of your seat - heavy turbulence, getting ready for descent, etc.

The yukky, stale recycled air on the plane, especially, on the tarmac before the a/c really gets going.

Static hair and dry skin on a plane.

Dirty gas station restrooms (road trips).

Sssloooow drivers in the passing lane (left lane).

Two slow drivers next to each other on a two lane highway - each afraid to pass the other - blocking traffic behind them!!!

Drivers that pass you, cut in front of you and SLOW DOWN drastically!

Bugs, bugs, bugs on the grill and windshield of the car!

Probably many more - but I wanna stop before I get road rage!:p :p

Please do not get me started on my travel pet peeves!!
First...I am not sure who gets my goat more, suits or rookies on flights.

The suits look down at people wearing shorts, jeans or t-shirts, thinking they are better then you because they have on an expensive suit. I take 8 flights a week, which means I probably make more flights a year then most of these suits, and I see them ground the gate, step in front of me when I am in line when they call first class. It shocks them when I sit down next to them in first class with my jeans and t-shirts. And I tell them that I am a Chairmen and they are confused because they are only Silver or Gold members, its as if they are saying how can this guy fly more then me, the high priced business man.

Then when it comes to the rookies...with there stupidity at security(Oh, you mean I have to take my keys and change out of my pockets??), taking forever to sit down, walking it what seems like reverse in the airport, standing right next to the carousel when the light comes on, and countless other things.

I hate poorly built and laid out airports, such as Boston, San Francisco, Seattle(possibly the worst), Dallas, and Atlanta(too big)!!

Hmm.....what else.....

UNITED AIRLINES!!!!!
DELTA!!!!
SOUTHWEST and all discount airlines!!!

Well.....let me calm down...before I blow my top.

Mine starts before we leave.
My house has to be completely clean ending/including vaccuming about 15-30 minutes before we leave. I love to come home to a clean house.

People who carry on bags that are too big...and airline employees who do nothing about it.

Nasty, unlit, rundown roadside reststops and idiots who slow down to take a good long look at an accident, causing the rest of us to be jammed up in traffic or in danger of having another accident.

1] It seems I'm almost always seated next to the screaming kids on a plane. Now, I know almost every young one will be antsy on take off and landing with the pressure changes...the ones I hate are the kids that scream through the entire 2 hour flight, and the parents just seem so clueless that their 'darling' is disturbing anyone...and some of these kids are at least 6 years old. Occasionally, there are those kids on a flight that are well behaved and polite...their parents should give classes! I try to make it a point to compliment them in front of their parents.

2] Folks that arrive late at the airport for their flights and hold everyone else up (and I'm not talking about late arriving transfer flights...that's not their fault.)

3] When driving there are areas where it is over 100 miles between rest areas...HELLO..we pay highway taxes for those.

4] Kids that have nothing better to do in a restaurant than visit every table...to those parents...If you don't want your progeny at your table, why would we? Don't be surprised if your kid runs back to you after I accidently spill my ice water

... two feet away from the gate, so that the airline can claim it left the gate on time. I've had this happen to me a few times now, where the FA's actually admitted that we would not be going anywhere for awhile, but that they were doing it to improve their on-time departure statistics.

I can understand it when the gate is needed for an arriving flight, or when the weather is causing traffic control difficulties, but I'm sorry, symbolically pulling back from the gate when you know you will not get departure clearance for another hour is ridiculous, especially since passengers are not supposed to leave their seats under these circumstances.

Also a major thing: if a passenger has been the victim of circumstances and made uncomfortable by another passenger, and there is a First Class seat available, for criminy's sake let the person have it! It's not like they are going to be able to sell that seat in mid-flight. Once my son was severely ill on a flight, and I asked the FA to let the passenger on the end of the row move to an empty first class seat , to spare him the unpleasantness. The senior FA refused to let him move, even though there were 6 unused seats in First Class and the man was flying alone.

I loved the quote on suits! I flew first class to Europe a few years ago and as I was boarding to come home a woman said some really hateful things about me breaking line! She announced LOUDLY that only First Class was boarding and I should wait my turn! I turned around and asked her if she would like to see my ticket that I was in first class!! Her poor husband was about to die!

My pet peeves mainly have to do with carryons. If you CANNOT lift it up over your head don't carry it. Do not assume someone will help you! Do NOT carry on everything you own! Really!

Also, if you are meeting your loved one at the end of the gateway move away from the door! Let the other people off the plane!

As for people who insisit on sliding their seat all the way back, I just stick my knee into their back! I have found this very effective. At least they are uncomfortable!

1: People filling up the overhead bins before the plane is full. This happened on a flight yesterday I was in the 4th row and all the bins were full.. I had to put my backpack in a bin at row 20. Grrrrrr... someone coming from the back of the plane stopped to get his huge carry-on out of the bin right over my head. I was so ticked off! I had to wait for the whole plane to empty so I could go back to row 20 to get my bag.

2: people filling the overhead bins with their coats. Coats should be counted as one of their carry-ons if they plan to stow it. It's just common courtesy.

3: Kids SWIMMING in the hot tub

4: Touring groups overunning a hotel and ignoring the rights of other guests.

5: Oh... I forgot this is the transportation forum!!! Tee Hee!!!

6: Rental Car agents assuming you will buy their over-priced gasoline and insurance rates.

7: Incessant, loud talkers on a flight... can't you see I'm reading here?

8: The seatbelt lesson... if we don't know how to buckle a seatbelt and pull the strap by now.. we shouldn't be allowed out of the house.

Wow... what a bunch of whining! It's good to get it off my chest!
