Looking for some place fun for my son's 10th bday. we will be paying OP and would like a sit down meal. We have never been to T Rex but we have been to Rainforest several times. Suggestions Welcome. PS He hates seafood.

I had a great time with my kids at Trex, they were 4, 6 and 9 at the time, and they really enjoyed themselves. it is very much like rainforest cafe from what I hear, and the food was really good. the chicken fried steak my husband had was freaking huge ! LOL. I had a burger and I really liked it. We're planning another trip there this next time we go because my 5 year old still loves dinos and his younger sister is coming this time and she's 4. She is also dino crazy. it was great, we sat in the ice cave, and about every 23 minutes or so, a meteor shower hit, and the animtronic dinos all went bonkers!!

We love it there! We have been 3 times and have fun each time we go. The first time we went my boys were 7 and 9. I like the food there much better than the Rainforest Cafe.

are very similar. T-Rex has three zones that are different; jungle, ocean and ice cave. while RFC has the same theme with different animals.

The menus are different. They're easy to find for comparison. I preferred the RFC menu but, I've gathered from posts on this board that I'm likely in the minority.

There are not many places in DTD that appeal to a ten year old. My son was about ten when we went to T-Rex and I think he enjoyed. House of Blues has a lot of music and other memorabilia if he would like that. In my opinion it has better food.

We really like T-Rex. It's a fun place!! We've only went once and sat in the ice cave :) The colors were constantly changing and there were "meteor showers" alot, so my son was very impressed!

Great atmosphere! Ok food.

Been there twice, sat in the ice cave the first time, the jungle the second time. Prefer the ice cave. Very cool effects.

It is loud in there though so if you think you want a quiet relaxing meal, trex would not be it.

We enjoyed it though :)

We have been to TRex twice and have really enjoyed it. It's a great place for kids, ours, DS 13 and DD 10, love it! I thought the food was good, right along the lines of the Rainforest. Fun place!

Loved Trex! My kids were 14, 8 and 6 and they absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is awesome. We all had a great meal and for dessert....

That alone is worth the visit! :lmao:

We will be returning to T-Rex in May.

We visited for the 1st time in September and enjoyed it very much. GC love it and it's the one restaurant they ask to return too.

It's a fun place and like Rainforest it can get loud at times.

Loud, crowded, hectic and generic service. Poor food quality.

Fun place walk around and look.

We ate there last Wednesday. I have a more detailed review in my dining report, but we thought it was just ok. The food was a bit expensive and mediocre. The decor was cool though. It is also VERY loud.

We ate there a year ago on a Saturday night. We walked up and had an hour wait. It was really loud and really crowded. The decor was amazingly cool :) My kids found the meteor shower less scary then the lightning storm at RFC. As for the food we were not expecting much and were totally blown away - it was fabulous! My husband and I both had salads and left very sad as they were too big to finish. Dessert was soooo yummy! Both my kids and DH have been asking to go back.

We have eaten at RFC and the menu does not appeal to me as much. We have one near our house and the last time we went we left disgusted and refuse to return.

Just ate there again last week. Fifth time over the last year. Have always had very good food there. Loud, crowded and my DD8 loves it!

:)

It gets better reviews that RFC.

DH and I have had dinner here two or 3 times and enjoyed it a lot (no kids, just 2 adults). I always get the grilled shrimp skewers over raptor rice and a mango salsa- it's actually REALLY good.

The atmosphere is really neat, too - and I'm not really into dinosaurs.

It's very loud and the food is expensive for what you get. It is much louder than Rainforest Cafe to the point where you can't hear the other people at your table when everything is going off. The menu items are also somewhat similar.

It's not bad, but I think you can do better for a special experience for a birthday. :)
