What are your thoughts on Lazy Boy furniture?

We are buying a new couch. Dh and I are debating on a Lazy Boy (one is a reclining couch the other is not). I have always heard they were a good couch but I read on line that may not be the case. Does anyone have any experience with Lazy Boy? Thanks for your help.

We bought my first DH a lazy boy in 1992 and it lasted until I finall threw it about 10 years later, and because of health problems he had gotten up to close to 300 pounds before he died, so I would say it was a really good chair.

That said, our current couch came from Big Lots and was $800 compared to the $2K lazy boy we had looked at, and its much easier to watch the dog and kids abuse it and it still looks good.

It is funny you would say that Dh and I just had the conversation last night about buying a "disposable" couch. Our young boys are pretty rough on furniture. We could buy a cheaper couch knowing it will be destroyed. The couch we are looking at is $800, originally $1000. So not too expensive. Or....There is another nice solid 100% leather couch we are looking on sale for $1000. I want to get at least 10 yrs out of what ever couch/sofa we choose. I just don't know much about Lazy boy to know if it will last?

Growing up we had a huge lazy boy sectional couch...the couch was not only extremely comfortable it lasted about 12 years.

My parents then decided they would go "top of the line" and purchased their next couch from some fancy furniture company....they payed a pretty penny for the couch (and felt that the quality was extremely lacking for what they payed).

They recently got a new couch and living room furniture and switched back to Lazy Boy...and they LOVE their new furniture.

Our sectional was a Lazy Boy and we loved it, it was just too way big for our new living room when we moved. It was super comfortable and everyone who sat on it mentioned that. We cheaped out on this couch because we knew we were only buying one to last 3 years while I'm in school here and blech. I can't wait to go back to Lazy Boy after school finishes and we move. This couch squeaks, creaks, isn't nearly as comfortable and has only solidified my decision that when we purchase a sofa next, we'll definitely spend the money next time. I need a good napping couch.

We bought our first couch and love seat from a fancy store and within 2 years it was falling apart. Mind you, we picked top of the line fabric and it was custom made. So we bought a Lazy Boy about 4 years ago for a lot, lot less and it's holding up great! We love the fabric, the style and the way it looks after 4 years and with a cat and a now 5 year old. We will buy from them again.

We have a lazy boy sectional that is really comfortable. My problem with Lazy Boy is that they don't stand behind their product very well. This sectional we have was a faux leather that the salesperson said was easier to clean, and more durable than leather. We paid a lot for this huge sectional and 2 years later the fabric was wearing funny and feeling funny. It was sticky to the touch especially in the summer when it was humid. My hair would stick to it. If you sat on it for a while and then got up your pants (not your skin like you would expect from leather) would be stuck to them and when you peeled yourself off you had a nice burgundy colored stain on your pants (the sectional was burgundy) We went back and forth with the company to try to get a replacement or some sort of a refund but despite their "lifetime warranty" they would do nothing for us. They stated the warranty only covered foundation parts or something like that, meaning fabric wasn't covered. They very soon after stopped offering that line of fabrics but never admitted they had sold an inferior product. All that said we still have the couch in our family room and it is really comfortable and the recliners and such still work but it's still sticky! I have the thing covered with sheets and throws! I don't know if another company would have stood by their product better. I am inclined to buy from Costco next time. They would have taken it back even years later!

We have a Lazy Boy double recliner leather couch and we love it. We've only had it for 2 years now, but it is in our basement, gets a lot of use and has held up great. It's comfortable, durable and looks great. So far so good...

All of my family room furniture (couch, loveseat, two arm chairs, and a recliner) is from Lazy Boy. It's coming up on 8 years in age and still looks great. With 2 kids and 3 cats, it certainly takes its fair share of abuse. I would definitely buy from lazy Boy again.

Just bought two recliners yesterday from Lazy Boy. Lifetime guarantee. They last longer than you want to keep them and they have patented mechanisms that no other recliners have. Looked and looked at others but decided to bite the bullet and go to Lazyboy. Turned out they had a great recliner for $549.

I know I'm chiming in a little late here, but I did want to provide my input. Four years ago, dh and I bought a Lazy Boy micro-fiber sectional sofa and a loveseat. The love seat is fairly comfortable and has held up well, but the sectional has not. The sectional sags badly, the back pillow cushions haven't worn well (the filling is lumped together in the middle) and it has never been very comfy to sit on. In general, I have been disappointed with this furniture and am considering replacing it.

I will admit that we have small children who tend to be very hard on furniture. I also have an overweight father who sits on the couch in the same spot every afternoon for a few hours (my parents watch the kids after school). So these factors have probably contributed signifcantly to the wear on the couches. But I still believe that the furniture should have held up a little better than it has. I will not be a repeat Lazy Boy customer.

Edited to add: There is a seam on the top (back) of the couch that has come unsewn in several places. I have had to sew it back together twice so far.

My Aunt & Uncle have had their sectional couch from Lazy Boy going on over 12 years too....not leather, a cloth...no problems whatsoever....well one, she had a heck of a time getting his butt out of that recliner to actually do anything after he retired

I have a lazy boy chair, and sofa that we have had for 5 years and it has not held up well at all! We also have a lazy boy leather recliner that we have had for 8 years and it looks brand new. So I'm torn, I love the recliner but I hate the couch and oversized chair. It's just my husband and I so we are not rough on the furniture. I think next time if we go with lazy boy we are doing leather for all pieces.

I bought a Lazyboy sofa less than 2 years ago. It has been my worst furniture purchase ever. The reason I went with them was the lifetime warranty. Yeah right! This sofa started falling apart right away. They did send someone out to fix it after 5 months. It started falling apart where they fixed it within 2 months. I called them and was told too bad, there was nothing they would do to fix it. They gave me a phone number to call. This company quoted me $300 to fix it but said it would not look good. Forget it. I will buy a cheaper sofa when I can.I will not recommend Lazyboy to anyone. By the way, there are 3 adults in the house so it was not like we are hard on the furniture. Our last cheap sofa lasted 6 years.

I wouldn't recommend Lazy Boy and won't buy it again.

We bought a 3 piece set 7 years ago. Because of the way the room was configured no one really used the couch, but then the love seat broke (one side not working, and heavily sagging) so we rearranged and started using the couch. Now the couch is broken. One side won't open at all, and the fabric is coming undone so you occasionally get stuck with sharp pins.

We purchased our sofa with two recliners and loveseat a little over 15 years ago. We have three kids that have grown up on there and two cats and a dog. Furniture looks fabulous. You would never know it was that old. We purchased the scotchgaurd treatment and haven't had one stain. Liquid beads and puddles up on top of fabric. (And we've had a lot of liquid spilled with three kids!!!) No crushing of pillows and not one problem with either recliner. Maybe they aren't the same quality as they were then. HIGHLY recommend!!!
