What are your thoughts on Dollar General Market for Groceries?

If it is like our Dollar General here, I would not buy anything from them foodwise. I am not comfortable with brands I have never heard of. I just wouldn't.

I do, however, get TP, cleaning stuff, etc... from them all the time.

I don't but I gotta tell ya something I learned. And really this doens't have anything to do w/discount stores just buying food in general. You know the Pennsylvania Dutch pieces and stem mushrooms you get in the store. If you look at the can in small print it says Product of China. Geez!! Now I don't know about anyone else but with all the bad things coming out of china I surely don't want my food from there...so read those labels people!! Ok op sorry for the OT post.

Honestly, I can get better prices on things at the regular store just watching sales and couponing than I can at Dollar General.

Kimya

they have pop tarts for 1$ ..generic brand
they have palmolive for 1$ and they take coupons
they also have oatmeal for 1$

Ours has Ziegler hotdogs, milk, oj, cheese, eggs, Sunbeam bread, campbells soup, poptarts, lots of name brands.........I buy all I can there and get the fresh veggies and meats at the grocery store. We have a nice new one a mile from my house so we shop there a lot!

Well, I occasionally will see a deal too good to pass up. Last month I bought individually packaged cheese doodles for way cheaper than I could have gotten them anywhere else. I often buy candy bars, gum, and such items there as well.
But, this said, just be careful about what you're buying. Read the lables and look at experation dates. If it is expired, skip it. If the label is in something besides english or has tons of mis-spellings, skip it (it could be from another less regulated country and isn't worth the risk).
Oh, and for the record, I only buy brand names. My son has food allergies so I am very particular about what I purchase. Our Dollar General around here have tons of name brand foods.
