What are your money saving tips for food?

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I thought I had read on this board that you can not use mm's with an AP. I have two that I would really like to use.

Great tips everyone, thanks a million.

Do you mean you already have an AP or want to upgrade your park hoppers to an AP and use the Magic Mornings before you do that?

Me; Dad, is the pack mule. I carry four diet cokes and 2-4 waters always in my back pack every trip. Meal prices aren't to bad when you don't have to pay for the drinks. When you add drinks to each meal for a family of 4 it's additional $12. We also share meals as we feel they are quit large; we can eat lunch this way for about $16-$20.

We always have breakfast in the hotel before we head off, and bring enough food for one meal in the parks (lunchables, subway sanwhiches, cheese and crackers w/ salomi, etc) plus at least two snacks. This is partly to save money and partly because fast food isn't always fast and gets old faster. :lmao:

Desert Inn has large refrigerators. We buy cereal and milk + bagles (you can go toast at the breakfast room) and other breakfast items. Once we might have the continental breakfast offered by the hotel, but its not very healthy and doesn't have much variety. :yay:

How does ordering from a supermarket work? Do we have to wait around at the hotel for the delivery or does the hotel hold the items? How does everyone plan a delivery time?

Also, does anyone know if Vons or Albertsons is close to Hojos? We have a car while there. Would it just be easier to run to the store ourselves?

Order from Von's or Albertson's and arrange to have it delivered to your hotel room. There are many posts on here about how to do that, and how to waive the delivery fee.

Order a case of water and bring your own into the parks. Get crystal light or kool-aid single packs to put in your water bottles. Refill your empty bottles at the baby center in DL for free cold filtered water.

Bring in your own high protein snacks (jerky, frozen gogurt tubes, cheese sticks, trail mix, etc.). These kinds of snacks stick with you so you don't get hungry as often. We like to do peanut butter and honey rolled up in flour tortillas for an easy, portable snack.

Split meals in the parks. Adults can order kids meals at counter service restaurants.

Those are a few to get you started. . .

What a great idea with ordering from them!
