what are your July 4th plans?

We will be docked in Key West, watching the fireworks from the Magic!!!! ::yes::

I'm so tired because I'm teaching water aerobics after work, so I just feel like resting!:sunny:

A bunch of people I know are going to Hershey Park, and I've been invited. I'll probably go!:sunny:

Watching our town parade that day, then home for a cookout with friends.

Monday we leave for a week at the ocean in Maine:D I just love it there!!!

Our DS is coming home from Pittsburgh for a few days and we plan to enjoy our first free weekend since February at home.

minniepumpernickel-we have spent the last two July 4ths at Hershey and have had a wonderful time. Believe it or not, the only looonnnggggg line was for the Roller Soaker.

Be sure and stay for the fireworks. We watched them from the parking lot. Took chairs and sat by our car, then beat a lot of the traffic since we just had to hop in our car and exit.

Both times we packed a lunch/cooler and ate on a grassy area outside of the park.

Have a great time!

This July 4th will just be plain sad. We usually go home and visit family in Indiana. Well, this year, DH has to work since the 4th is on a Sunday, he doesn't get Friday or Monday off (and I get both).

So, we will be staying home - doing what, I do not know. This will be on of the 1st times we have been alone on the 4th so it will be very different. I might coax him into seeing some fireworks - he hates fighting traffic just to see them.

My neighborhood has a huge bash for the 4th. Fishing derby, road race, parade, cookout, DJ, Volleyball, concessions, and fireworks. Everyone..about 100 families set up there own canopies on our lake beach area and party together! Long day, but lots of fun!

We are going to go to the park and watch the fireworks. Other than that we have no plans. DH has a 3 day weekend. We will probably be driving each other nuts by Monday!

We'll be at the Polynesian, I think we're skipping the parks and spending the day poolside.

That night we'll be sharing the Grand One with ten other DISboard people to watch WISHES. I'm really looking forward to that, especially meeting the others!

Karen,
Thanks! I'm glad that the lines aren't too long there. I'd definitely stay for the fireworks! Packing a cooler sounds like a great idea too. I'm hoping the weather is nice for that weeeknd.

Hope that you have a great 4rth too! :sunny:

We'll be in the Berkshires (western Mass) at Jiminy Peak resort. We'll probably spend the day swimming. Normally we're at my grandparents house, or having a major bbq/pool party so this will be very different. Grammy and Grampa will be on vacation with us though.

DH & I will be at Virginia Beach. My brother is being commisioned as a Naval Officer on July 1st and from there we are having a big family shindig at the beach! Can't wait!!!

Wow! An awful lot of us will be celebrating birthdays on the 4th!

I'll be spending my birthday in Aberdeen, WA. I'll fly up from LAX to Portland on the 3rd and drive 2.5 hours to Aberdeen. I was supposed to sail aboard the Lady Washington on both the 3rd and 4th, but it appears her re-fit work will not be done in time, so I'll have to make do with spending some time aboard while she's docked on the 4th. I'll be getting a special grand tour of the vessel, though, which should be cool (I'll get to see places only the crew gets to go into). It appears that Aberdeen has a big fireworks shindig on the 4th, so I'll partake of that. Need to pick up a birthday cupcake or two, as well. I'm hoping some friends from over in Richland, WA will be joing me, too. Flying home on the 5th. A whirlwind birthday trip!

Looking very forward to it! Should be a very fun birthday! :sunny:

We'll be going to see the Boston Pops concert at the Esplande and fireworks afterwards...got a great deal today on a hotel just a few blocks from the Charles River and I just couldn't resist. It will be DD's first time seeing it live and she will be sooooo excited. I can't wait to tell her tonight.:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

No one coming to DC? Normally we go down to the mall and meet friends for the Folk Life Festival and take turns camping out our spot by the Washington monument. One year we watched from Lady Bird park- which was nice because we cooked and played volleyball and didn't have to deal with a crowded metro.

We haven't decided yet for this year- I have to work earlier in the day. But we will probably be out on the mall or at the park to watch the fireworks :) There is nothing like watching 4th of July fireworks in the Nation's Capital!
