Besides finishing, I mean. Anyone who's done races has things they want to try and do better on next time. Personally, here's my top 3:

1. Focus on the finish line. No, I mean, really focus. I always get there and rush through and don't really enjoy the fact that I'm FINISHING something special!

2. Stop & pop my hip if I need it! During RFTT, I wouldn't stop (why, I'm not sure), and by 6.1, I was pretty miserable.

3. Slow down a bit and enjoy the scenery. I'm always so worried about the sweepers that I go as fast as I can for all of it! I want to enjoy the characters & the fact that I'm doing 13.1 miles @ Disney!

Anybody else?

Well, this is our first Goofy so goal one is to finish it. I would also like to finish without looking and feeling like roadkill. I would in addition like to finish with enouth energy to enjoy Pleasure Island with the WISH Team that is going there.

Last January when we walked the Marathon, I was thinking time was important, a 5:30 marathon was entirely possible. Yea right! Erica had other ideas, She hugged characters, danced with Minnie Mouse, petted animals, especially a furry rabbit. Potty stops and a rest break at mile 18. We finished with plenty of time to spare and so this time I'm not going to clock watch.

Tired Panda:hippie:

My Goal is the same as last year. I am shooting for a sub 4:30..... that was shot to he** and back last year with the characters and the heat and the characters!! This year I am ONLY stopping for 1 Character and that is Mickey, and only because I missed him somehow last year!! 4:30 is my goal, however my planned pace will put me closer to a sub 4:00 so I hope to be somewhere in between. Sub 4 is my DREAM finish, my 4:30 is more of a realistic finish.

My Goals:

1). To finish in 7 hours and receive my special Mikey medal:woohoo:
2). To enjoy my team mates on both the W.I.S.H. team  and TNT mates.:grouphug:
3). To take pictures of the characters and surrounding area.:mickeyjum
4). To smile when I feel pain!:lmao:

My goal is to not have a time goal.

I am so focused on time for all my other races that I'm looking forward to just running and enjoying the event.

On Sunday I ran a 10K with my wife. Only her second 10K. I missed the first one, RFTT, because I was in Chicago for the Almost Marathon. I stayed with her the whole way and really enjoyed it.

I don't know if it was because I had run 11 miles on Friday, a 5K Saturday morning with a PR and then followed by a 20 mile run home, but I think it had more to do with just enjoying the day.

My son is running the 1/2 with me. We have agreed to just enjoy the run and the characters for the first 8 miles and then he can race in.

For the Full I just want to not worry about the time. I have another race in a few weeks following and will run that for the time.

Since this will be my first marathon....I honestly have no other goal than to just finish!! I don't really know what to expect, so I don't want to put time goals out there for myself, and then be disappointed if I don't reach them. I honestly want to enjoy the time I am out there running, and just take it all in!! But most of all, cross that finish line and get that medal!!!!

This will be my first half marathon and first distance event of any kind. (I did the ToT 6.5K sprint last month.) Given that a year ago I needed a walker to get around after completing my titanium hip set, my goals are: (1) to finish; (2) to hopefully have time for a character picture or two; (3) to finish; (4) to hpoefully be able to do at least part of the event outside the newly-minted, proverbial "bite me zone"; (5) to finish; (6) to hopefully spend some time during the weekend with my WISH team mates, as well as the WISH MCMers n/k/a Philly '08ers ;); (7) to finish; (8) to be mobile enough on marathon day to volunteer and/or to cheer; (9) to finish; (10) to get a really cool Donald medal; and (11) to finish. My list isn't in any particular order, but the odd numbered items are the most important to me at present.

I'm so lazy. I'm going to use Monte's goals - they sound good to me. :lmao: I'll only modify one - #2 - enjoy my WISH team mates and my TnT friend that I "run" with.

I'll also borrow one of Panda Dave's - to not look and feel like roadkill when I finish. That may be a tough one to accomplish. :scared:

This will be my 3rd attempt at the Goofy. My goals, besides crossing both finish lines are:

1. Finish both races under the time limit (finished 06 marathon 8 minutes over the limit; DNF'd the marathon in 07). Although I would really like to break 3 hours for the 1/2.

2. Finish both races in good condition (no blisters, shin splints, etc.) Be able to enjoy the parks in the few days after the races.

3. Stop for character pics along the way (especially the 7 Dwarfs. I didn't stop for them last year - I was too worried about staying ahead of the sweepers)

4. Having fun with, getting and giving support to my fellow Wish teammates.

5. Serve as the scream team for 4 of my friends that I convinced to do the Family 5K on Friday.

Terri

(6) to hopefully spend some time during the weekend with my WISH team mates, as well as the WISH MCMers n/k/a Philly '08ers ;); .

:rotfl: I hope to be included in that beer at EPCOT after the race!

Now that I am walking, I have the same goal as Tired Panda and not look like roadkill after the race, I find walking so much harder than running. :scared: I just want to enjoy to relax and enjoy the experience!:thumbsup2

I also like what Stacey said and that is to really experience the finish this year and take it all in.

I want to enjoy the events.
I WISH to enjoy our WISH Teammates along the way.
I so need to have a better experience than January so I WISH it to be cooler by about 35-40 degrees for the start. (That will put it at about 55-50 still warm for me, but I think I can manage that better than 85 and humid this year.)
I want to make it in on time to qualify for the certificate and with no pain.
I want to see our WISH Team enjoying the events.

1) Take the 1/2 as easy as possible but still finish.
2) Shins survived so can start the marathon.
3) Finish under 7:00 and not need a wheelchair to get around.
4) Enjoy encounters with my WISH friends.
5) Have memories that will help motivate me during rehab after my knee surgery that looms after the Goofy. Look out Minnie!

Have my photo taken with Tigger en route - I got Eyeore last time (cue crying) but Tigger still escapes me.

Other than that, I just want to finish without any part of me falling off - then stagger to the English pub for my cider and some chips!

I really, really want to break a 3 hour Half. I know that sounds slow to most of you, but it keeps alluding me. I am going to ramp up the xt and hope that gives me the extra boost to break 3 hours this time around.

Goals for Goofy:

1. Have fun
2. finish in the time limit
3. avoid serious injuries

I like the part about taking the time to enjoy the finish. Last year, they scooped me into the Medic tent and I was too worried they'd haul me back once I escaped to enjoy any of the finish. So I guess another goal is to finish without a visit to the medics!

Cecilia

To finish faster than I did this year. :thumbsup2

Oh, that and to not pass out at the end. Although I did get a free wheelchair ride to the bus, which was very nice. :rolleyes1

Goals.....hummmmm

Well
1) To finish
2) No health issues
3) To have fun!!!! Which I won't have if I don't finish
4) Finish in under 3 hours for the 1/2

Kim

Couple of goals.
First and foremost is I want to finish. I haven't put all this working into this thing to not finish.

Don't get injured or feel like road kill. I want to be able to enjoy the day and Pleasure Island.

Have fun and relax. I get so competitive, not with others, but with the clock. I have yet to take it easy in a race. This being my first marathon I hope I can keep myself paced correctly. I don't want to go out too fast and burn myself out.

I would like to do run a sub 5 hour marathon.

And most of all I want to enjoy my time with you guys.

enjoy,
Duane

Another one here who's doing her first long-distance event...

1) Finish
2) Finish under 3 hours
3) Enjoy the experience
4) Enjoy the WISH team
5) Be able to walk when I'm done!

Jackie
