You just arrive to Disneyland for the first day of your 3-day trip. What are the first three rides you get in line for?

Do you end the night with anything in particular?

Yay! I'm trying to plot our day for TOMORROW! I was thinking FP for Indy, ride Splash, ride Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, and back to use our FP at Indy! We may head to DCA first and snag our FP'S for RSR, then to DL, but we'll see. I do love seeing the dedication plaque and Main Street first thing!

How exciting you are there tomorrow! We arrive Saturday and can't wait to run into the park.

We are thinking fast pass for Indy, Astro Orbiter, Space Mountain and then back to Main Street to ride all the old-time vehicles. We watched this Youtube of Adam the Woo and it looked like a lot of fun.

Hyperspace Mountain is usually our first stop. Grab a fast pass and then get in stand-by line so we have at least 2 rides, unless the stand-by is too long (over 40 minutes). After that it's usually head over to New Orleans Square for Pirates and Haunted Mansion and grab a fast pass for Indy on the way by.

I always try to run to Peter Pan's Flight before the line gets insane, Hyperspace Mountain, and Matterhorn.

8am with no Early Entry - Peter Pan, Toad, Casey, Matterhorn single
8am with Early Entry, Toad, Snow, Pinocchio, Casey, Matterhorn single
9am with Early Entry or not... Matterhorn single. FP for Indy, Big Thunder, Splash, Mansion, Use Fp for Indy then Pirates

Our usual first three are, in this order (whether we have MM/EMH or not, of course you have to wait until reg. opening for Indy):

1. Space Mountain
2. The Matterhorn
3. Indiana Jones

  1. POTC
  2. Big Thunder
  3. Haunted Mansion
Will have to find a different 3rd this year since HM will be closed when we visit :worried:

Its a family tradition to start each family trip on Dumbo, so that's #1. After that (our kids are now 5 and 6) we will be heading to Big Thunder and then Splash mountain!!!

Depends what the strategy for the day is, and whether I'm starting "right," "left," or "center." And of course there may be deviations depending on Fastpasses and such.

Right - Space, Star Tours, then one or both of those again.
Left - Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Splash.
Center - Pan, Dumbo, Alice.

When it used to just be my husband and myself...we'd always head toward Space Mountain to either ride or get a fast pass. After that...it really varied based on wait times.

Now that we have a toddler it's a bit different. Last time we went straight to Fantasyland. Peter Pan was closed for refurb so our first ride was Alice. I suspect next time we may try to start with Peter Pan (if it's open) and then go to other Fantasyland rides. Casey Jr. would be towards the top of our list.

After EMH, our tradition is always to ride Jungle Cruise as our first ride of the first day! Then it's usually Indy while the lines are short, and then Pirates or Haunted Mansion.

if you go left at rope drop, you can usually walk right on Indy without needing to FP. that's what we do, then.....
Splash
Haunted Mansion
POTC

We were just there in April and got those done with very minimal, waits. Have fun!

We usually start in tomorrow land. Star Tours first w/ a rider swap. The non-riding parent then takes the little one on Buzz lightyear...then we switch. After that, I don't really remember! It's only been a year!

We have a tradition that the first ride in DL is always Space Mountain and the first one in DCA is Monsters, Inc.

We like to go to Fantasyland first. If we skip Peter Pan we'll go on Alice first and then Dumbo. If Casey Jr. is running we'll usually catch that then the other dark rides (excluding PP) and the teacups. We can generally do all of that in the first hour.

We've also gone left at opening. On DD's first trip we went on the Jungle Cruise first and then Pirates and Haunted Mansion. That's probably not the best way to maximize your first hour, but they are great rides and it is nice to just walk on since they don't have FP (well HM does now).

Lots of good ideas here. I will add one more for DCA in particular. With EMH or not, if you go straight to TSMM first thing you can often get two or three back to back rides in before the line gets prohibitively long. We do this b/c we love the ride and b/c it has no FP so no way to ride it with any shorter line any time else. Last ride of the day is often Monorail back to DD. We have tradition of last ride before midday break. The pre-midday break ride is either Splash or GRR depending on which park we are in. I time the FP to make sure we get one with a window that is like 1pm-2pm. Then we get drenched and head out to the hotel to get even more wet at the pool.

A friend who used to be a CM says it closes just after Labor Day for the overlay, then reopens in a week or two. She thought it'd be open again for our trip Sept. 13th.
