I would like to get my girls one or two great Wii games. They think they like Toy Story Mania which I believe I've read about here. Does everyone like it - anybody not like it? It seems like there was an animal game people were crazy about - maybe Animal Crossing? What's it about? Any other games, maybe a dance one? Has anybody gotten the Disney Dance game? Any help would be appreciated! BTW, they are 19 and 15. THANKS!!

My 11 year old son and I both love any of the Lego titles -- Batman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones. They are just the right combination of humor and action.

I am getting a Wii for Christmas and have been going NUTTY waiting for it!!! No, I didn't snoop. I just strategically put all of the clues together and came to my conclusion. lol

I'd love to hear about everyone's favorite games as well! :)

We love Animal Crossing City Folk (all time favorite), Wii Resort, Wii Fit, MarioKart, Spectrobes Origins, and the games you can download with wii points cards are also very cool... wii ware like tetris, frogger, and so many more.
:yay:
You can download classic NES games, N64. I could go on and on. I think it is a fun family game system because there truly is something for everyone.
I guess you can tell I am a wii enthusiast. :rotfl2:

I also like the mii channel and the mii contest where you can submit miis that look like the description they are looking for. It is a lot of fun. We crack up while making miis of each other. Our three year old thinks the miis are hilarious.

We just played the New Super Mario Brothers - it was a blast.

We also enjoy playing Rayman's Raving Rabbids when a group of friends is over.

I personally love Mario Galaxy. My DD12 loves Animal Crossing. DD8 loves Carnival miniature golf. We all love Mario Kart, but I wish we had another nunchuck. That is the only way I like to play it.

If I had to do it all over again, I would not have gotten Toy Story Mania. How you choose what you want to do is extremely confusing in this game. I've played it twice and it may be awhile before it gets spun up again.

The Wii Channel on the console just started offering WiiWare demos that you can download and try. I loved the World of Goo demo and went right out to get a Wii Points card to purchase the full game. Besides WiiWare games there are also Virtual Console games which are ports of older Nintendo games. Definately check out the wii game previews and reviews over at IGN.com. Lots of good articles to get you familiar with all the game offerings.

There is a lot of stuff available for download that is not worth it. Just junk. You won't know it until you check out IGN or other game sites.

The controls are somewhat confusing, but once you've opened all the games (you can use the tickets you win to do that, so you don't even have to get all the goals in a game to unlock it), you can then quite easily create your own series of games, pick whichever ones you want in whatever order and as many as you would like, and then play them.

It's quite good, actually.

I would highly recommend Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Sports Resort, we all play these games as a family at least once a week, and are silly competitive!

I personally did not like TSM on the wii, it is confusing and dull after a few games.

Hope this helps! :goodvibes

I love Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resort, Dance Dance Revolution, Super Mario Kart Wii. My all-time favorite though is The Price Is Right. They would probably like Band Hero and Rock Band too. Band Hero is on my Christmas List. (I'm a 29 yr-old female).

You should check out Boom Blox.....my kids love and and so do my DW and I.

I have wii sports. But I really love Mario Party, we played this with family or friends. Also super smash bros (characters of Mario, Pokemon, Zelda, Kirby ecc fight with each other) it's fun ;). Mario Kart it's my favorite!:cool1:

My friends and I just had a blast playing Super Mario Bros. Wii together. I also like the Lego games (Star Wars and Indiana Jones), Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Kart Wii.

Wii Sports, Wii Play and Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit all sound like active up and moving about games.

Are the other games (Mario, Animimal Crossing, Toy Story Mania) games where you sit on the couch and play with the controller?

I think I am getting a Wii for Christmas or my birthday - just clues I have left to myself.

Other than the $200. for the Wii game, what other accessories need to be purchased?

A second for Boom Blox! Fun game! My nieces also really like Family Game Night. I got them the new one, Family Game Night II, with Pictureka and Connect 4. They also love Cooking Mama. I didn't really "get it" but they love it.

We love Rock Band Beatles, Guitar Hero, Wii Sports, and Dance Dance Revolution. My kids are 22 & 17.

I'm enjoying this thread - I'd like to hear some more opinions on games too!

In our house, the popular games (DH, DD12, DS8) are...

• RockBand&Guitar Hero (RB2, GH World Tour, RBBeatles, LegoRB, GHVanHalen) - great because we all play as a family

Lego Batman (waiting on Lego Indy)

• MarioKart

• Mario Party 8

• Wii Resort

• WiiSports

We have others but these are the ones we play most often.

Yes and Yes (although you could stand and dance with the latter while you play.)

The Wii only comes with one controller (Wiimote) and nunchuk and Wii Sports is the packaged game.

Wii Play is a set of "ok" mini games that comes with a "2nd" wiimote and the package is $10 more than buying a 2nd wiimote alone. I think it's worth it.

Wii Fit Plus is the package that includes the balance board and software.

The Wii motion control that attaches to the Wiimote comes in Wii Sports Resort and now Nintendo has released this bundle with (2) motion controls instead of just the one.

Amazon recently had the Wii and Wii Fit Plus together for $299 including a $50 gift card. I'd keep an eye out for further deals like this and you can use any gift card towards the purchase of an extra Wiimote.

Also check the budget board for a great Wii topic. It's somewhat old now but has good info in the base post and does get traffic from time to time.
