not talking sauces, just noodle shapes.

I always have linguine, penne, and macaroni in the cupboard.

I really like linguine much better than the other thin long types like spaghetti, fettucini, vermicelli. And macaroni is best for cold salads and, well, you've gotta be able to throw together mac and cheese for comfort food. Penne is great for holding sauces and I like its size... I can spear one with a fork and put the whole thing in my mouth without feeling like I've bitten off more than I can chew!

So what pasta shapes do you like and why? I need to branch out and try something new.

I like all of them but Angel Hair is my favorite.

I once made mac n cheese with Angel Hair. I *THINK* I ate the whole thing in one sitting.

I only buy Barilla PLUS pasta as it is made with a high protein & fiber content (from chick peas,) and is enriched in Omega 3s. It tastes exactly like regular pasta. But, I'm limited by what they offer.

I like their rotelli (corkscrew) shape, and the angel hair. I can't stand pastas that take a long time to cook, so I don't get penne or linguine.

I wish they made the bowtie pasta shape and a lasagna noodle.

I just can't warm up to bowties because they look like BOWTIES and it reminds me of my 10th grade chemistry teacher who always wore a bright bowtie and used to make the worst geeky jokes and laugh like a hyena about them...
(sorry, all you nice bowtie wearers. It's just a traumatic memory. Scarred for life by 10th grade chemistry and runs screaming from a pasta... I need therapy)

rotini and fusilli (both corkscrew shapes, but fusilli is smaller) are the most common in our house. Mostly because they are the easiest for little kids to eat without making a mess.

I also like tortelli!

Funny... I used to laugh - not all that long ago - at people who had a real preference for which type of pasta they ate, if they were all of the long and skinny types. Pasta is Pasta, I thought.

Then, recently I tried Angel Hair for the first time ever, and now, I feel like an idiot... I definitely prefer Angel Hair, now. :)

I like Angel Hair, penne, and cavatappi - it's kind of a corkscrewed penne.

Our favorites are farfalle (bowties) and penne. I usually buy the Barilla Plus for the penne but they don't make it in farfalle.

I also like angel hair, but not with a regular sauce, with something lighter.

I usually have some medium shells, some rotini, and some macaroni in the cabinet. And always some spaghetti but I hardly use it, as we use farfalle/penne to make "spaghetti" dishes.

ps we eat pasta like 1-2 times a week, and I am addicted to cold salads and to various other skillet dishes that use pasta. Just in case you are curious as to why I have like 7 kinds of pasta!

Thin pasta lover here too, give me the Angel Hair or the vermicelli, maybe the thin spaghetti.

I hate reg. spaghetti and don't care for fettucini. Too much noodle in the bite.

I will eat penne, elbow and of course the buttered egg noodles.

The popularly used pasta where I live is penne, so that is what I eat.

The thicker, the better.

I like Mostacolli (which I dont know when it started to be called 'penne' I always called it mostacolli) Those Springy looking ones and Ziti.

I really dislike the long ones - but if I had to pick one, it would have to be a fettucini.

The least favorite is Angel Hair.

Speaking of pasta - I was lied to by my mom for aggggges.

She always bought and cooked Angel Hair, and called it spaghetti when she made it.

We went out (to the Spaghetti Factory near Disneyland as a matter of fact) and when they brought it out I was like "OMG! Look at this spaghetti!!! It's THICK!!! How weird!"

SHe then fessed up. I had no clue.

I like Capellini (sp?). It looks like bird nests in a bag or that is what we call it. The size is between angel hair and speghetti. We like to eat it with peanut sauce and chicken.
