What are your favorite inspirational movies?

All the ones I immediately thought of have already been mentioned. Of course, the fact that I'm a Notre Dame football FANATIC puts "Rudy" squarely at the top of any list of movies for me.

I doubt that short films are what you're looking for, but if anyone's interested, I made one a few years ago that I like to think is a little inspirational. It's called, MAGIC WAND.

My favorite movies happen to be inspirational as well:

It's a Wonderful Life

The Best Years Of Our Lives

The Shawshank Redemption

The Birdman Of Alcadraz

I found "Pay it Forward" very depressing and could never think of it as inspirational, but whatever, we all see things differently. :)

I totally agree! I got my original list of 5 movies: Rudy, Philadelphia, Pay it Forward, Remember the Titans, & Dead Poets Society, from my boss and 2 of those 5 are quite depressing in my opinion - Pay it Forward and Dead Poet's Society. I added the Pursuit of Happyness, which I love, and the Freedom Writers, which I don't really like but it has a good message, but I really want 3 more solid movies to add to the list so I can get rid of the older ones I have used several times. :thumbsup2

Oh, wait! - I just thought of one I find inspirational that isn't on the list:

ARMAGEDDON

When Bruce Willis' character shoves Ben Affleck's character back into the chamber and takes on detonating the nuclear device himself, that's about as selfless and inspirational as a movie gets for me!

A Few Good Men

and, believe it or not...

Legally Blonde

I never even considered Legally Blonde, but you're right - it actually has a great message with an educational theme. It's one of my favorites too. :)

I don't usually cry at movies, but this scene makes me weepy every time. "I love you Harry." "I love you son." :sad1::sad1:

Thought of another inspiring film: Field of Dreams.

Two of my favorites:
Rocky
The Truth About Cats & Dogs (Yeah, I know, but its the supposed "ugly fat girl" who gets the guy. IMHO, Janeane Garofalo is not fat or ugly.)
Then there's the one about the rec center that was closing, but a guy came along & trained the kids to be on a swim team....can't remember the name...

Penny Serenade is one of the best inspiration movies I've seen. It is impossible to watch and not want to improve your marriage, now matter how good your marriage might be...and when the stranded little girl is brought with her mother to the school play and they see she has sneakers on, oh, my, I just start crying like a baby.

How about.....

Norma Rae
Places in the Heart

"The Miracle Worker"- as a teacher, this movie always inspires me.
"Ever After"- a bold retelling of Cinderella.
While Schinler's List shows the horror and trimuph of man, I believe that Anne Frank is more inspiring.

Field of Dreams
Rudy
Hoosiers
The Miracle Worker
Grapes of Wrath
Chariots of Fire

The following movies are tv/cable movies
Wildflower
The Reading Room
The Christmas Choir
Our House
Annie's Point

Stand and Deliver
Saving Private Ryan
Braveheart
It's a Wonderful Life

Lots of good stuff has already been listed. A few more to consider:

Drumline (I love this movie)
The Rookie
Billy Elliot
Lean on Me
Bend It Like Beckham

it's A Wonderful Life
Miracle on 34th Street
Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
Wizard of OZ

Animal House
Caddy Shack
Slap Shot

My inspiration comes from comedy........ :lmao:

Great lists so far!

Here's a few of my most inspirational films:

Good Will Hunting
Norma Rae
On Golden Pond (nothing inspires me more than seeing Jane F doing that backflip)
Bridge on the River Kwai

The entire Lord of the Rings series

Jerry McGuire (love Cuba Gooding in that one)
A Soldier's Story (Final line: "Oh you'll get used to it, Captain. You can bet your *** on that.")
Shawshank Redemption
Glory
Hoosiers

Took

Steel Magnolias gets my vote. :)
