All the ones I immediately thought of have already been mentioned. Of course, the fact that I'm a Notre Dame football FANATIC puts "Rudy" squarely at the top of any list of movies for me.
I doubt that short films are what you're looking for, but if anyone's interested, I made one a few years ago that I like to think is a little inspirational. It's called, MAGIC WAND.
I totally agree! I got my original list of 5 movies: Rudy, Philadelphia, Pay it Forward, Remember the Titans, & Dead Poets Society, from my boss and 2 of those 5 are quite depressing in my opinion - Pay it Forward and Dead Poet's Society. I added the Pursuit of Happyness, which I love, and the Freedom Writers, which I don't really like but it has a good message, but I really want 3 more solid movies to add to the list so I can get rid of the older ones I have used several times.
Oh, wait! - I just thought of one I find inspirational that isn't on the list:
ARMAGEDDON
When Bruce Willis' character shoves Ben Affleck's character back into the chamber and takes on detonating the nuclear device himself, that's about as selfless and inspirational as a movie gets for me!

Two of my favorites:
Rocky
The Truth About Cats & Dogs (Yeah, I know, but its the supposed "ugly fat girl" who gets the guy. IMHO, Janeane Garofalo is not fat or ugly.)
Then there's the one about the rec center that was closing, but a guy came along & trained the kids to be on a swim team....can't remember the name...
Penny Serenade is one of the best inspiration movies I've seen. It is impossible to watch and not want to improve your marriage, now matter how good your marriage might be...and when the stranded little girl is brought with her mother to the school play and they see she has sneakers on, oh, my, I just start crying like a baby.
"The Miracle Worker"- as a teacher, this movie always inspires me.
"Ever After"- a bold retelling of Cinderella.
While Schinler's List shows the horror and trimuph of man, I believe that Anne Frank is more inspiring.
Good Will Hunting
Norma Rae
On Golden Pond (nothing inspires me more than seeing Jane F doing that backflip)
Bridge on the River Kwai
The entire Lord of the Rings series
Jerry McGuire (love Cuba Gooding in that one)
A Soldier's Story (Final line: "Oh you'll get used to it, Captain. You can bet your *** on that.")
Shawshank Redemption
Glory
Hoosiers
