DH's parents, sister, neice, and nephew are heading down for a cookout at our house... plus, I think my dad is going to come as well - I can't stand the thought of him sitting at home alone, so I offered for him to join in and he was really excited about spending time with my ILs again - odd! =)

Anyways. What do you have planned?

While I'm at it - what do you think we should cook? DH always wants to do steaks, but our home is small (meaning-only 4 people can sit at our table and steaks are hard to eat without a table) and steaks can get expensive. I was thinking burgers, hot dogs, and chicken sandwiches... but that seems so, um, plain. But a LOT more practical.

What's your favorite grilling foods for big parties? (DH HAS to cook out on his fire put, btw, so it has to be grilled) LOL

=)

DS has a baseball game at 10:00. This is a big one for him because its the end of the season and they get to play in the real, "big kids" field for this one.
Then weather permitting(forecast keeps changing) I hope to have my family over later in the day for a cookout and swimming. We plan to keep it simple too... hot dogs, burgers & sausages.

We are frying a turkey in the back yard on Sunday

Dad loved it when we did it on Thanksgiving...so instead of taking him out for lunch, we're gonna kick back with some beers and fry up a turkey.

totally WT'ing it. heheheh

I'm having my mom over for dinner and maybe take her to a movie, I think. My dad passed away a year ago and this is a hard day for both of us.

Hard day for DD too because her dad is in New Mexico (we were screwy this year, he had her for Mother's Day--I have her for Father's Day.) So--she'll call him and maybe we'll celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday this year!

We are making steamed clams and spending the day at home.

Here's an idea for the OP. How about chicken caesar salads. Your DH can grill chicken breasts, you can slice them, have salad fixings available, have everyone make their own salads. Easy to eat on your lap. Make hot dogs for the kids (don't eat hot dog caesar salad - DH had it once, he loved it, I was repulsed!)

My 11 year old son's baseball team is playing a double header so we'll be at the ball field a big chunk of the day. Life is good.

Whoa nellie! Thanks for the reminder. With no child at home and my father gone I'd forgotten that Father's day was coming up!

EEK!!

No plans........except the ethnic/food/craft festival in the park. Yeah, that's the ticket. We'll go celebrate Fr's day at the park.

DS & I are going to Mystic Aquarium for a penuin encounter. We'll get to listen to their heartbeats among other interaction.

Fri night the 3 of us are going out for Father's day dinner.
