What do you guys think / have to say about Shula's?

Our trip is right around the corner, yay, so I'm finally getting around to asking my last minute questions.

DH ate at a Shula's somewhere or other and vowed never again because it was horrible, but I thought I heard good things about Shula's at Disney.

Thanks,
--Cassi :D

We ate at Shula's in December 2002 and did not think very highly of it. The prices are very steep and everything is ala cart. What really made me mad was the fact that they charged my wife and myself $10.00 to split a steak ( which was very bland and overcooked, we had to send the first steak back. ) We each had our own drinks and we split baked potato & asparegus. I felt with all the food we ordered, we should of not been charged the extra $10.00. We will never be back to Shula's.

It is amazing how so many different reviews can come from the same restaurant.

My DW and I have eaten at Shula's 3 times now and each time the food and service has been top shelf! Last year we even went with a party of 12 people and not a single person at our table had a bad thing to say about food or service.

If you decide not to go to Shula's but want a good steak you do have many options at WDW, you can always hit Yachtsman’s Steakhouse or Le Cellier at Epcot. Both of those also have good steaks (I like le Cellier better personally).

If you go back and do some searches I am sure you will find many reviews of all of these restaurants and after averaging all reviews you should come up with a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Good luck and have fun!

We ate there in October 2001 and it was the best steak the wife and I had every had. Service was great but there were only a half dozen people in the place (this was less than a month after 9/11). Price was about the same as any higher end steak house and ala cart is normal from our experience.

Stuffy - Rude - Impersonal - shall I go on? Shula's does have good food - BUT... I choose Yachtsman, the food is better (much better in my opinion), the service is head-and-shoulders above Shula's PLUS I get that extra benefit off still feeling like I am at WDW. The "magic" seems to be alive at Yachtsman - not so at Shula's.

While it is expensive, my family and I have reallly enjoyed our meals there!

The pros: Great food, great service, large portions

The cons: dark atmosphere, overly large portions, splitting fee (which we weren't charged), on the expensive side, menu presentation

Will we be back? Maybe someday, but we aren't rushing to be first in line as the doors open. For the few years that things were seriously faultering at the YSH, it was a good alernative. Now that YSH seems to be getting back on ths right track, I'll opt to go there.

FYI, Jiko has the best filet at WDW.

Gotta agree with Anne's assesment, although some folks enjoy being able to "toss around" the menu ;). Some other people complain about the "dead lobster walking" as they wheel around a very large live lobster the whole night nestled in slabs of meat.

I would also add that Shula's has free, yes I said free, childcare for 2 hours at the Dolphin Club while you eat for kids from 4 years old (and potty trained) to I think 12 years old. There is no limit on the number of children you can leave, so if you have a large family this is especially good. If you make an early PS before about 7:00, they'll even feed your kids.

Shula's is expensive, too! We spent $225 on dinner for 2 our last time there. That included 2 drinks, 2 starters, 2 steaks, 2 sides and a bottle of wine. We were stuffed!

Yeppers, it was Sebastion hanging out on Clarabelle all night that kind of skeeved me.

But would like to say that is a couple of great looking Cub's fans.::yes:: :wave2:

It is by far the best steak on property and also the best we've ever had. IMHO, it is no more expensive then YSH if you order smartly. Sides are HUGE and can be shared.
