What Are You Reading Right Now?

Done with Tempted by PC Cast. It seemed shorter than some of the others but I'm know that it wasn't. Just didn't cover as much time.

Now to begin The Dragon Reborn by Robert Jordan.

Finished a couple of quick reads, Murder Takes the Cake and Unhallowed Ground, the former I'm not sure who the author was (Kindle freebie), the latter by Heather Graham. Now I'm reading some Heather Graham that I downloaded to the Kindle, unaware that it takes place at the end of the Civil War and is a vampire tale! Hey, so far it's holding my interest. I'm holding off reading Outlander, the Wrecker by Clive Cussler and some others I can't remember.

I finished The Outlander last week. Loved it, but haven't continued to the next one yet. I started Kiss of Shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton.

Do you mean OUTLANDER? Because THE OUTLANDER is a different book written by Gil Adamson.

If you mean OUTLANDER, by Diana Gabaldon, prepare yourself for another EXCELLENT read on DRAGONFLY IN AMBER. I just can't wait to sit down and see what Jamie and Claire (Sassenach) are up to. popcorn::

Classes started again, yipee...

Intro to Shakespeare = Just finished Romeo & Juliet, will start Hamlet tomorrow.
Senior Seminar on the Pacific War = Pearl Harbor and the Coming of the Pacific War, Japan at War: an Oral History. and starting War Without Mercy: Race and Power in the Pacific War next week.
... plus about like 10 books so far on WWII propaganda, with a gazillion more to come. Senior history thesis, yay...

I haven't posted in a long time because I have started several books & only read 20 pages or so & decided they were not for me....:confused3

I'm still reading "Under the Dome" too, I'm on page 748 so just over 300 pages yet to go, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm sad to hear someone didn't like the ending though. :(

Under the Dome is taking me FOREVER to read! I keep having to go back and re-read some parts, I'm only on page 320. Did it take you a while to really start enjoying this book? I found that up until about page 200 it was dragging for me, but then after that it picked up and now I'm loving it!

I hear ya'. My senior seminar is on Marxist cultural theory. I also have a bunch of English classes, one on the teaching of grammar. Being an English major, I do luck out sometimes and get something fun to read assigned. One of book I am reading right now, Jaque Pepin's The Apprentice, is quite enjoyable. If you like food and Paris, this is a good one for you. It is a pretty easy read.

I haven't read it but wouldn't have read 200 pages to see if I liked it. If a book doesn't grab me in the first 20 - 30 pages, then I stop reading it. I might try Under the Dome just to see since so many here like it but I'm not a real big Stephen King fan.

I just finished reading Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, as a direct result of someone suggesting it on this thread.

LOVED THEM!! I finished Dragonfly in Amber last night and cried and cried!! I won't say more (for those who have not read them yet) other than I thought MY heart got ripped out!! Total Drama Queen, I know. But for some reason, these books really moved me. I told my friend, I think I am in love with another man (Jamie), too bad he is fictional!! I am so pathetic!!

I have Voyager on hold at the library! Can't wait to start it! How many books are there in this series, anybody know?

I really like SK and had heard a little about 1 of the main characters being an Iragi War vet, so I really wanted to read it. Normally I am the same as you, 20 pages and if I'm not into it, I'm done but with this 1 IDK, I just really wanted to get into the story. Call me crazy but I'm glad I continued on.

Can u give a tiny hint of what they are about? I haven't read a really good book in such a long time. :rolleyes:

The story line intrigues me so I may give it a try. Reminds me of an old Outer Limits or Twilight Zone episode I saw once about a town inside a dome. I think the town ended up being giants play things. I don't know, it's been a long time since I watched it.

Someone mentioned that the ending for Under the Dome seemed rather quickly written. SK's book Cell seemed that way to me also. Don't you just hate it when author's wrap up a book in a couple of pages?

Well, in general, a time-travel, historical, high adventure, love story. I will warn you though, there are some rather dark, violent parts to it. For me, it really made me quite emotional, not like a blithering fool or anything (except the end of Dragonfly), but I did find myself thinking about the book after I had put it down to do other things. The author writes so vividly, I could really imagine being there and could not wait to get back to the book. I actually was annoyed when I had to take care of my real life responsibilities and stop reading! LOL!! It takes place in mid 1700 Scotland, for the most part.

I don't really feel qualified or enough of a literary mind to suggest books to people, but I feel this series is that good, that I can say READ IT, you will enjoy it.

I'm slowly getting into "The Girl with the dragon tattoo". I'm starting to like it.

That is what I meant, my bad :rotfl:

The series is in this order:
* Outlander(also titled Cross Stitch)
* Dragonfly in Amber
* Voyager
* Drums of Autumn
* The Fiery Cross
* A Breath of Snow and Ashes

An Echo in the Bone is the seventh volume in the main Outlander series and Diana Gabaldon says it isn't the last!

Finished The Book Thief today and started Half Broke Horses by Jeannette Walls.

Loved The Book Thief 5 Stars from me!

I am reading A Sand County Almanac by Aldo Leopold for my ethics class. It is like a modern Walden Pond with a focus on conservation and land ethics. I cannot put it down!

Not sure if I added this. Just finished The Shack last week. Loved it, I thought it would be more about the abduction/murder, but still loved it.

I am currently reading
under the dome
I caught a brief glimpse of :something" and choose not to go further. I am 474 pages into it. therefore.. be back later...
