I finished The Outlander last week. Loved it, but haven't continued to the next one yet. I started Kiss of Shadows by Laurell K. Hamilton.
I'm still reading "Under the Dome" too, I'm on page 748 so just over 300 pages yet to go, and I'm really enjoying it. I'm sad to hear someone didn't like the ending though.![]()
I hear ya'. My senior seminar is on Marxist cultural theory. I also have a bunch of English classes, one on the teaching of grammar. Being an English major, I do luck out sometimes and get something fun to read assigned. One of book I am reading right now, Jaque Pepin's The Apprentice, is quite enjoyable. If you like food and Paris, this is a good one for you. It is a pretty easy read.Classes started again, yipee...
Intro to Shakespeare = Just finished Romeo & Juliet, will start Hamlet tomorrow.
Senior Seminar on the Pacific War = Pearl Harbor and the Coming of the Pacific War, Japan at War: an Oral History. and starting War Without Mercy: Race and Power in the Pacific War next week.
... plus about like 10 books so far on WWII propaganda, with a gazillion more to come. Senior history thesis, yay...
I haven't read it but wouldn't have read 200 pages to see if I liked it. If a book doesn't grab me in the first 20 - 30 pages, then I stop reading it. I might try Under the Dome just to see since so many here like it but I'm not a real big Stephen King fan.Under the Dome is taking me FOREVER to read! I keep having to go back and re-read some parts, I'm only on page 320. Did it take you a while to really start enjoying this book? I found that up until about page 200 it was dragging for me, but then after that it picked up and now I'm loving it!
Do you mean OUTLANDER? Because THE OUTLANDER is a different book written by Gil Adamson.
If you mean OUTLANDER, by Diana Gabaldon, prepare yourself for another EXCELLENT read on DRAGONFLY IN AMBER. I just can't wait to sit down and see what Jamie and Claire (Sassenach) are up to.![]()

I just finished reading Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber, as a direct result of someone suggesting it on this thread.
LOVED THEM!! I finished Dragonfly in Amber last night and cried and cried!! I won't say more (for those who have not read them yet) other than I thought MY heart got ripped out!! Total Drama Queen, I know. But for some reason, these books really moved me. I told my friend, I think I am in love with another man (Jamie), too bad he is fictional!! I am so pathetic!!
I have Voyager on hold at the library! Can't wait to start it! How many books are there in this series, anybody know?
The story line intrigues me so I may give it a try. Reminds me of an old Outer Limits or Twilight Zone episode I saw once about a town inside a dome. I think the town ended up being giants play things. I don't know, it's been a long time since I watched it.I really like SK and had heard a little about 1 of the main characters being an Iragi War vet, so I really wanted to read it. Normally I am the same as you, 20 pages and if I'm not into it, I'm done but with this 1 IDK, I just really wanted to get into the story. Call me crazy but I'm glad I continued on.
Can u give a tiny hint of what they are about? I haven't read a really good book in such a long time.![]()
