What Are You Reading Right Now?

Am done with The Shimmer by David Morrell. Was okay but he has written better.

Starting The Great Hunt Book Two of The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. It's as thick as the last one.

I picked up The Book Thief at the library last night. The librarian gushed over what a good book it is. With her recommendation and yours, I happily will begin to read it today.

Has anyone read The Shack? My sister in law and Grandma gushed about it so I downloaded it to my Kindle. I have read about 10 pages and so far not really into it yet.

I need a quick, easy read for the gym. I have to read a ton for school, so I can't devote too much time to leisure reading other than 45 minutes a few days a week. What do you think?

I loved The Book Thief!

This one is on my shelf to read. Hopefully, it will be a good one. It sounds good, so we'll see, I guess!

What about a mystery series. Joanne Fluke has fun mysteries that are light and easy to read.

Dollar Daze....really fun, light read.

I enjoy her books. Another one of the same style is Diane Mott Davidson.

Has anyone read Black Hills by Nora Roberts? I saw it at the library, but thought I'd ask here before I try it.

I'm plodding along with the 3rd death installment, Innocent in Death, by J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts). It's a good book, suspenseful, grim. I haven't had much time lately to wrap it up! :upsidedow

I'm also perusing, Hungry Girl's Cookbook of Snacks/Meals for 200 cals or Less. I've been scanning cook books a lot lately. That's where my extra time has gone. :)

I picked it up for 50 cents at our local thrift store. I thought "What a find!". But I couldn't get into it either. Winded up not finishing it. At least I didn't pay much for it.

I'm hung up on the 4th book, Rapture In Death. I can't find it and I'm bound and determined to read them all in order! Guess I'll have to give in and buy it online.

Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella.

I am debating starting Dear John before the movie comes out or waiting to read it after I see the movie.

I think I'm going to be in the same boat. My library doesn't have many of these books. I'm hoping the inter (cross city) -library loan program will work for me!

ETA- I hope you have good luck finding it. (Good luck to us both!)

Coastal Living and Florida Design (I think that's the title of the latter) magazines so I can get ready to help my mom with decorating ideas on the vacation condo she and my dad closed on yesterday in Windermere, FL.

(Yes, I know it's not near the coast. Those are a lot of the colors we're looking at, though. :) )

I've been checking out cookbooks, too. Let me know if this is a good one. Thanks.

I've been checking cookbooks alot lately too~infact I just bought 4 new ones
The Gooseberry Patch ones. I really like them and have used alot of the recipes.
Now on with the original title...What are You Reading Right Now.....

Just finished "I Know This Much is True." I'm not really sure how I feel about the book. It's really kind of depressing, but not, if that makes any sense.

Next up, The Book of Ruth, by Jane Hamilton

I spent some time with the book, the title is: Hungry Girl 200 under 200, 200 recipes under 200 calories. I recommend it already!!! Lots of great recipes, tips, and product recommendations. I'm excited!! :)

There are some recipes that I'm not wild about using tofu crumbles, but I could modify those with a lean meat and still be okay. I think.

Some recipes I want to try:

1."Swirls gone wild", cheesecake brownies (133 calories, 1.75 g fat)

2. Crazy Calypso Salad (spinach leaves, cooked shrimp, chopped mango, avocado -- dressing: rice vinegar, lime juice, no cal-sweetener packet, a smidge of cayenne pepper) sounds yummy! 2 c servings, 174 cals. 5 g fat)

3. So Low Mein with Chicken 167 cals. 1.5 g fat

4. Philly Cheesesteak Lettuce Cups

5. Crazy-Good Coconut Chicken Taco (I'm really curious about that one!)

6. BBQ Mango Tilapia

7. Scoopable Chinese Chicken Salad

8. Fiber-ific fried cheese sticks (4 pieces): 155 cals, 5.5 g fat. It uses light mozzarella string cheese, Fiber One bran cereal, fat free egg whites, etc.. (Baked).

So many recipes! The author calls some of the recipes, "mini meals". Low calorie side dishes (and dessert) would really round some of these out!
I want to cut down the calories but not the flavor. So I'm going to try some of these out.

I read, The Book of Ruth. It's heavy but I thought it was done well.

Oh, yum! Sounds like one I will have to check out!!!

Thanks for the review of "The Book of Ruth." I'll let you know how I like it!

I like the Morningstar fake meat crumbles! They are good. I promise! If you are an onion ring fan, you have to try hers. Good substitute for the real thing. I'll learned you can do a lot with Tof Shirataki noodles, canned pumpkin, fake meat, Splenda, light vanilla soymilk, etc...some of her staples!

I just started reading The Lovely Bones. I wanted to read the book before I saw the movie. From what I heard, its a great read!
