What Are You Reading Right Now?

I'm reading Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I know the book was popular awhile ago, I'm just getting around to it now. DD tells me a movie is being made from it.

In that case, I'll rent the DVD when it's out.

Please let me know what your book club thinks of this after you discuss it. It could possibly go into ours, too.

I think I liked the movie better than the DaVinci Code. All around it was a better movie.

I will be sure to let you know what we think of it. I love belonging to my book club, and also to this thread. I'm reading such a variety of books that I would never have chosen for myself. Love it!!!!

I read way toooo much (Is that possible?) Right now I'm reading Perfectly Imperfect by Lee Woodruff (very very good..started it yesterday and am almost finished) and just finished In An Instant ..Lee and Bob Woodruff. I do the library thing, so a lot of times I'll get more than one by the same author :)

Last night I finished "The Missing" by Beverly Lewis. I liked the book but when it was over the story felt unfinished:confused3

Outlander is so worth that $3 Kindle download price.
The first 3 books IMHO ARE the series. After that point -- it just kind of went spiraling into .... something other than Outlander.

I've been reading this silly little book I got from out library download service.
Dewey the Library cat or something like that. It's about a cat that lived in the library in some small Iowa town.

I want to stop reading it because I know this cat is going to die. I just know it.

I'm reading 'The Lost Symbol' by Dan Brown. It's entertaining enough, but seriously, you'd think his writing would be of higher caliber given the fact that it took him 5 years to write this book. :sad2:

Totally agree! I was really disappointed by that book. I think part of the problem is that ever since The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons came out, there has been 3 or 4 documentaries a week on historical conspiracy theories and secret societies. So nothing in this book felt new or surprising like the ideas in Da Vinci did.

Just finished The Virgin's Lover - very good. I've got Jane Austen's Mansfield Park on my nightstand right now, so I'll probably start that next.

Just finished The Reader by Bernhard Schlink. Didn't care for the book to be honest. One of the topics of dealt with was kind of disturbing, but regardless, I found the book rather boring to read.

Not sure if I'll rent the movie or not. Maybe on a night I'm home alone because I know my DH & my girls would probably hate it.

Going to start my first Beverly Lewis book tonight.

My cat got me this book for Christmas last year and I enjoyed it but it wasn't nearly as engrossing as Marley and Me. I won't comment on the ending, but I do suggest you finish reading it. It was not nearly as heartrending as Marley and Me was for me.

I loooved the Beverly Lewis series. I'm usually not one for religious lit at ALL, but I did enjoy these very much. Will be anxious to see if you enjoy them :)

2 books

First 1 I finished today. Unhallowed Ground by Heather Graham. Somewhat of a paranormal mystery. Was a decent read, but i wouldn't bother with it again. Starts off too slow and after picking up the pace in the middle the ending was too quick and needed more I thought.

2nd is a book i've read b4 but always entertaining. If Chins Could Kill. Confessions of a B Movie Actor by Bruce Campbell. He's currently on Burn Notice playing Sam and was Autolycus in the Hercules/Zena series. This book is a truly fun read and I learned tons about the movie making process I never even knew I wanted to know. :rotfl: If you're looking for something of an autobiography but light then this book is definitely worth a look. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the Bruce Campbell title. He is so funny! I really loved him in Evil Dead 2! Seriously one of my favorite movies! So gross and funny!

The Stand by Stephen King. Not a king fan at all but thought I'd try this one since everyone says it is one of their all-time favs.

I like the book but he always goes off on thes really weird, odd tangents. I don't find him to be scary at all, just odd. Not my favorite but I'm almost finished.

After that will be either Outlander or Grapes of Wrath.

I am not a major Stephen King fan, my DH loves him, I am okay with his music. That said though I loved The Stand. I read it probably 20 years ago, and it is still one of my favorite books.

I love Stephen King, I finally got my DH to read The Stand, the uncut version. He likes it, but doesn't understand why they don't get a semi!

I am still reading the Anita Blake series by Laurell K. Hamilton, then probably Outlander, or maybe another Jane Austen title. :surfweb:

That's too bad, I generally enjoy Heather Graham. This one is loaded on my Kindle for future reading.

Has anyone read anything by Pete Dexter? I picked Paperboy up from the library because his newest had gotten really good reviews, but this one is starting off veeeeery slowly. I'm usually one that has to finish a book if I start it, but this one is iffy...

I'm reading The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman right now. It isn't what I expected but I'm enjoying it.

"Mudbound" by Hillary Jordan.

Had to update everyone about this book, I had never read this author & to be honest only bought it because of the great discount at B&N......The book is hard to read just because it covers some of our countries past that isn't pleasant but the way it's written & the forming of the characters is just brilliant.
Loving that it's so hard to close at night:thumbsup2
