What Are You Reading Right Now?

I have a book on hold at the library, "Eat this not that". It tells about better choices to make when eating out. I read a snippet about some of the choices and some didn't seem a whole lot different from each other, except for the calories and fat! All of the copies are checked out of the library right now. Looking forward to receiving it.

In the meantime, I'm about 2/3rds way through with the book, "Shiver", by Lisa Jackson. It is a good mystery, hard to put down. I have an idea of who may be the perpetrator, but I'm not sure. I would've finished the book long ago, too many projects and comings and goings. Anyway, I highly recommend it, if you like mysteries. :cool2:

I looked through "eat This, Not That". It is a regular section inMen's Health. Pretty shocking! HAve you seen the book by the Hungry Girl? She shows what is in some fastfoods and how to make healthier versions. There are also lots of easy good recipes in there. She also has a website www.hungrygirl.com

No, I hadn't seen hungrygirl! Thanks for passing it along. :) I will definitely look at her website and for her book.

I saw a blurb on Yahoo and some snippets from the author's blog, on the "Eat this not that", book. I think I caught him on the Today show one morning too. Eye opening stuff!

I see a couple books on my waiting list at the library.

Debbie Maccomber's Twenty Wishes
Lisa Jackson's Lost Souls

I also have a book by Keri Arthur on hold but I can't for the life of me remember the title (its about a woman who is half werewolf, half vampire)

Also want to read Ghost Moon by Rebecca York..Patiently waiting for that one...

Currently I'm reading about the "turmoil" that happened a couple weeks back and awaiting an explanation about the injustice that was experienced here on the DIS by grown adults that are old enough to make their on decisions about visiting other boards outside of the DIS.

Bless Your Heart, Tramp

*Actual book title and not a personal attack*

:rotfl2: I love that book.

I finished the newest Sookie Stackhouse book by Charlaine Harris. It was the perfect book for that time--I was feeling blue and it was light and fun.

Now I'm reading Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch. Short stories that are connected to form a narrative. It's very good--I'm enjoying it.

Next up, I have The Host by whoever the author of Twilight is (I'm drawing a blank). Also I have to pick up a book at the library--Split: A Memoir of Divorce.

Taking a break from my usual MidEast / history / global politics themed readings, I'm currently reading "The Shark Chronicles: A Scientist Tracks the Consummate Predator," by John A Musick.

Good stuff so far. Not as self-obsessed as A. Peter Klimley's "Secret Life of Sharks," which struck me as being too much about the author and not enough about the sharks.

=)

Update: I want to amend my recommendation for, "Shiver", by Lisa Jackson as a big, NO GO. I retract the recommendation.

It was suspenseful. It had it's good points. I got annoyed with the author for putting the characters in situations that an average person (with common sense and a love for life) would not venture. She used this loose method to further her story line many times. It took away from the story.

Thought I'd pass that along.

In keeping with my usual light stuff, I'm reading Between Sisters by Kristin Hannah. I'm not far into it and I can already tell I'm going to like it. Has anyone read anything by her? This is my first attempt at her books.

Blood Brothers by Nora Roberts and the next one I read will be The Hollow by Nora Roberts

That sounds fascinating. I enjoy learning about sharks. Shark Week is one of my favorite TV times of the year!

I'm almost finished reading Until I Find You, by John Irving. I'm a big John Irving fan, but this book has been a tough one to get through.

I've currently got The Imagineers Field Guide to the Magic Kingdom on my nightstand!

Allyson :)

I just read Firefly Lane. I'm hoping to find Between Sisters at the library tomorrow.
Firefly Lane reminded me of both Summer Sisters and Beaches. A really good read.

To the person who recommended Jonathan Kellerman to me...Thanks. I just got his first book in the Alex Delaware series and I really like the witting style so far.:thumbsup2

The book was first put out in like 1985 so it was a little hard to find a new copy so I ended up buying at a used book store.

i just finished one by her... maybe Point Blank...
i really like her FBI series

Heads up, her new one, Tailspin comes out soon. Just finished The Hollow, the second in Nora Roberts' newest trilogy. I hate to say it, but this trilogy reminds me an awful lot of "It" by Stephen King.

ETA: Tailspin come out June 24
