I've read alot of Kristin Hannah-I like her writing, especially the way that she writes about families.:thumbsup2

Heads up, her new one, Tailspin comes out soon. Just finished The Hollow, the second in Nora Roberts' newest trilogy. I hate to say it, but this trilogy reminds me an awful lot of "It" by Stephen King.

ETA: Tailspin come out June 24

great! :goodvibes

thanks

Thanks for the heads up. I will have to put my name on the waitlist at the library. :thumbsup2

buffy the vampire slayer: Queen of the slayers.....yes I am a grown women but man I miss my buffy lol

"Water for Elephants" by Sara Gruen is a great book. If you have ever dreamed about running away and joining the circus, this book is for you!

I'm a circulation clerk at our library and this was reccommended by our reference librarian, I usually stick to Harry Potter or Stephen King books but this was extremely refreshing. It is now one of my faves.

I just finished reading Twilight but will probably go back and read it again. I am waiting for the second book to be released in paperback. I have it on pre-order but it won't come until June.

I've in the middle of several books right now, and keep them scattered around so I'll always have one handy. :lmao:

Uhura's Song - Janet Kagan
The Classic Philip José Farmer: 1964-1973 (story collection)
Sarek - A.C. Crispin
No. 44, The Mysterious Stranger - Mark Twain

The Death of Vishnu

and

The Life of Shiva

these are both by the same author -Manil Napil (or something like that). If you are interested in Indian culture this might be interesting to you. Just by looking at the titles, you may know that they are word play on Hindu(Indian) gods.

Fablehaven: Grip of the Shadow Plague, third in the series

Great books in this post Harry Potter world, especially for girls.

Are these fiction or nonfiction?

Sarek is a good book. I have that one on my shelf somewhere.

Can't Wait to Get to Heaven by Fannie Flagg

If you are a fan of hers this book is a must read!!! I catch myself laughing outloud constantly while reading.

Fiction. I'm not a fan of fiction but I liked them a lot. It was well written fiction similar to The Kite Runner or Thousand Splendid Suns. -- in the way that the language, setting, and "scenery" was very good. It didn't seem contrived at all.

Death of Vishnu had some flashbacks which were slightly hard to understand but it was very good read. Comparing the two, I liked the Shiva book just a little bit better.

Just picked up four more today:

These are non-fiction.

Shopping for God: How Christianity went from in your heart to in your face
James Twitchell

Who Stole my Church- Gordon McDonald

The Terror Dream: Fear and Fantasy in post 9/11 America
Susan Faludi

Twenty Ads that Shook the World: The century's most groundbreaking advertising and how it changed us all
James Twitchell.

I'm reading "My Fair Mistress" it is so so at best....I can't wait for it to be over.

I have what I call "catholic school issues", not being able to close a book because I don't like it. Somewhere in the back of my mind is a nun in the old fashioned habit stating "you are lucky you even have books Missy!". "You better keep reading."

I am trying to finish Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. I read Salem Falls just before this one and I loved it, couldn't put it down. I really am not feeling that with this one. I am about 200 pages into it. I hate to give it up now, but it is tough.
Karen

I'm going to try, Change of Heart. I just got it from the library. Did you end up liking it? There are so many titles on this thread! I wish it were a sticky thread. :upsidedow

"A Widows Walk" - by Marion Fontana..

Her husband Dave - a fireman - was killed on 9/11..

Just finished The Hollow, the second in Nora Roberts' newest trilogy. I hate to say it, but this trilogy reminds me an awful lot of "It" by Stephen King.

I agree, but I still liked them. I wish there was not such a long time between books. Since her formula is the same for all of the trilogies, you would think it would not take so long!!!

I also just read Jen Lancaster's Such a Pretty Fat--just as hilarious as her other 2.

And for some light-hearted fluffy romance- Match Me if You Can by Susan Elizabeth Phillips- I love her books, especially the ones about the Chicago Stars.

I am on a biography binge. Just read "Clark Gable", "Never Have Your Dog Stuffed" by Alan Alda, "The Girl Who Walked Home Alone" about Bette Davis. Next is one on Jimmy Stewart then back to the library for the 2nd Alan Alda book.
I want to read "19 Minutes" by Jodi Piccoult and "Smashed", which is about a young alcoholic, don't know who wrote it.
DD#1 just finished "Twilight" and is on book 2.
I know book titles should be underlined, but it's easier to put them in quotations here.
