Now I'm reading "Gone For Good" by Harlan Coben. He writes really well.

I am a huge fan of Harlan coben - his latest release, Play Dead (but actually one of the first books he wrote) is excellent :thumbsup2

Since Saturday, I have read James Patterson's "Postcard Killers" and Sara Gruen's "Ape House".

Both were fantastic. I hope that Patterson writes more with Liza Marklund, with whom he collaborated on this novel. It was one of his better efforts of late.

Ape House was amazing! Gruen seamlessly weaves a tale of bonobo apes and their ability to communicate with humans, the scientist who loves them and a reporter who has his own stuff going on in his life. Very entertaining and interesting. This is a fantastic novel to follow "Water for Elephants."

Today, I'm going to start "Backseat Saints" by Joshilyn Jackson. She wrote "Gods in Alabama."

Since last posting, I've finished "Gone for Good" by Harlan Coben, and "Welcome to the World, Baby Girl" by Fannie Flagg. I really liked both of them! I really like Fannie Flagg's style of writing, and don't know why I waited this long to read "Baby Girl!" It was really good!

Now I'm reading "Virgin Blue" by Tracy Chevalier. I just started it last night, so I'm really not far enough into it to decide whether or not I like it. Glad I have a slow day today.

I just started The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. It's an Oprah Book Club Book.

I am interested in this one. I've read a number of books from Oprah's book club list. I remember the title. It's interesting. I'd love to know what you think about it. :)

I just started, True Blue, by David Baldacci. It reminds me a little bit of the J.D. Robb series with Eve Dallas. I haven't gotten very far though.

I finished "The Scarpetta Factor" and was a little irritated, but am reading "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" now and loving it!

Last week I read "The Room" and then devoured the Hunger Games trilogy.

I have no idea where I'm going next.

I am reading LA Candy by Lauren Conrad. It is surprisingly good. I wanted light to read since I am doing so much heavy reading for school.

I just started a series of mystery books by Susan Wittig Albert. I don't know how I have missed them over the years (there are a lot!), but they are centered around a woman who owns a store for herbs and spices and they have a lot of great information about the history of herbs intertwined with the plot of the mystery. I love discovering an existing series, because it means I can move right onto the next book without having to wait for a new one to come out!

I'm about done with Susan Mallery's series. It doesn't have a name as far as I know but the 4th and last book is called Straight From the Hip. I've enjoyed reading them.

Last week I finished "In Harm's Way" by Ridley Pearson which was "eh".

Then I went on to read "Pirate Lattitudes" by Michael Crichton which was good.

I have just started "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak which is very, very good so far.

I was telling my DD today that she HAS to read The Book Thief. My book club read it upon my recommendation and everyone loved it.

This month's book club selection is The Hunger Games. DD got me to read that and I finished the trilogy in under a week.

I bought Hunger Games for my son & ended up reading all 3 in a week too...could not put them down.

"The Book Thief" is one of the best books I've ever read! I had my 13 year old daughter read it. Then she read "The Diary of Anne Frank". It really gave her the perspective from both sides.

You should both read "Maus" and Maus II" by Art Spiegelman. It introduces an even different perspective. They are graphic novels and you can finish each one in under an hour.

I read that book too. I thought it had an interesting start. I didn't like it though. The ending seemed kind of forced and made the rest of the book a red herring. It did have potential for awhile though.

I'm re-reading the Harry Potter series. I started about 2 weeks ago, and am just about finishing #4. I originally read them each as they were first published, so this is different to read them all in a row, without years in between. Wanted to refresh myself with the new movie coming out soon.

My younger kids were pretty little when the first book came out, now they are in high school.

I had forgotten a lot of the details, and am enjoying them again.

I just finished "Dead Until Dark", the first book in the Sookie Stackhouse series. It was really good. I kept comparing it to the first season of True Blood. I wish Bubba was in the first season, I loved his character!

I'm currently reading Black Notice by Patricia Cornwell. It's an easy read. I feel like I have already read this book but nothing has jumped out at me yet to say that I have. I've always enjoyed her books except for Blowfly and haven't read any of her latest ones. I really like Kay's character and hate that Benton was killed off.

I only got 20 pages into Backseat Saints and had to take it back to the library. It's back in my queue. I can't wait to see what happens, but it's a popular book, so I'll have to wait to get it back.

I picked up Private last night by James Patterson. I'm already a few chapters into it and so far, so good.
