I just finished "Virgin Blue" by Tracy Chevalier last night. I liked it, but I liked "Girl with a Pearl Earring" better. Not a bad storyline, but it stretched credulity at times.

Next up is "The Shadow of the Wind" by Carlos Ruiz Zafron. Another recommendation from this list, so I'm hoping it's good!

I just finished "Organize your Corpses" by Mary Maffini (I think that's her name). This morning I started "The Hot Flash Club" by Nancy Thayer, which was recommended here. I can already tell, after only 50 pages, that I'm really going to enjoy it. Today I have to order something from Amazon that has that free shipping for $25+. Yay-good excuse to buy some books!

I only got 20 pages into Backseat Saints and had to take it back to the library. It's back in my queue. I can't wait to see what happens, but it's a popular book, so I'll have to wait to get it back.

I picked up Private last night by James Patterson. I'm already a few chapters into it and so far, so good.

Joshilyn Jackson has some really good, and some so-so books. LOVED Gods in Alabama. Thanks for reminding me to put it in my library list.

I've been politicking to get Gods in Alabama into our book club for a few months now. I think it will be slated for January. I really enjoyed it, but I'd have to read it again because I forget the subtleties of it.

Anyone a Lois McMaster Bujold fan? I'm reading Cryoburn. I was really excited that she's gone back to writing Vorkosigan stories, but this one just seems bleh to me.

I am reading The Wave by Susan Casey. I like it by I am a surfer/ocean person at heart. I have the new Grisham book staring at me. I have been busy and all I want to do is sit and read, but can't find the time lately.....hate that.

I started "Sullivans Island" by Dorothea Benton Frank.
I just haven't been able to get into it so far.

Has anyone else read it?

I haven't read "Sullivan's Island", but I read "Plantation" written by her. Her style is easy reading and I love the low country so it was quick reading for me. I'd love to read your thoughts after you complete it to see if I should pick it up or not.

I'm not much for horror/scary stories but I took a chance and read The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan. I was only about fifty pages in when I ordered the sequel The Dead Tossed Waves on my Kindle. I read both in a few days during my vacation last week.

They are technically zombie stories but they are sooooo good. The first book is about Mary, a young woman living in a village surrounded by fences. Outside the fences are the "unconsecrated" aka zombies. When there is a breach in the fences, she and a few friends and family members have to leave the village.

Definitely an exciting read and a nice change from vampires!

I just finished reading "Cleo" by Helen Brown. You know how they say don't judge a book by its cover? Well, it's the cute black kitten on the cover that called out to me from its display at Border's. I absolutely loved it! If you liked "Marley & Me", you will probably enjoy this one too. It's a bit of a tear jerker at first, but it gets better and better as it progresses. Here's the link to the book.

Finishing up Escape and have the follow up ready on my Kindle. Excellent book, hard to put down.

I finished "The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest" and loved it! I'm now reading David Grann's "The Lost City of Z."

I know I posted on The Hot Flash Club once before, but now that I'm almost done, I think I love it more and more with every page!

I've restarted the Outlander series. I'm a little over halfway through book 1, and am enjoying it as much now as I did the first time I read it.

I just finished reading Her Mother's Hope/Her Daughter's Dream by Francine Rivers (one story/two books).

I did not like it at all. Too easy, wrapped up in a pretty bow type of book for me. I like a bit more challenge in my reading.

I'm about 60 pages into Fireproof. It's ok so far but I really dislike the husband.

I'm also reading some sci fi book out loud to my DH, I'm his own personal audiobook at night. But, I can't remember the title off the top of my head.

Just added this to my "to-read" list on Goodreads! it sounds creepy and exciting, thanks! :)

I am currently reading Heart Song by V.C. Andrews and Beautiful Creatures, a slightly paranormal young adult book
