I'm going to have to go Easter shopping. This is just stuff I've picked up cheap on clearance or saw at the Dollar Tree.

My kids never get much candy in their baskets, at least not from Mommy. The big star in the baskets this year is new Mickey Crocs. Got them online for $10 or so a few months ago, and they will be thrilled. Beyond that, a book, maybe a small toy, and a little bit of candy. That sums up their baskets this year.
And a note on the tooth fairy at our house, she doesn't leave money. My daughter started losing teeth at 4yrs old, so money was no big deal to her. I leave a small toy each time. From a small notebook and pen, a cute bracelet, a book, or this last time a 4-pack of playdough. Whatever I have in the extra toy stash.

I used to buy a different basket every year, but last year I found an Easter basket graveyard in my attic and decided that it was just wasteful. I went to Hobby Lobby and bought two large beautiful square baskets with really tall looped handles. Very whimsical and I decided that we would use these every year.

I didn't want to go overboard on filling them this year either but it still seems like I am. Here's what I have so far and I'd love to hear what you've got as well. I actually thought I wasn't doing that bad until I just now added it up, LOL!! I also bought candy to put in the eggs.

We try to down play the "Easter Bunny" part of Easter...we like our kids to know the true reason we have Easter. And how much of a miracle Easter is.

With that being said they are still kids and they will get small baskets. When both of my kids were born my sister bought them both Longenberger baskets so we use them every year.

We typically don't put very much in their baskets. New chalk, stickers, crayons, some candy, books and a stuffy. However, this year we're surprising them with our Disney trip (8/09) by putting Disney Dollars in the plastic eggs! Can't wait to see the looks on their faces when they figure it out!

My kids will each get a chocolate bunny (every year thing), and some candy, new toothbrush & toothpaste. DD 9 will get a small ceramic painting kit from Wal-mart (by the crafts) -a kit with about 6 diff. ceramic minis to paint - $2.95, we gave this as a b-day gift to her friend, with some paint and small brush kit, was a big hit as the girls went to a pottery store for the party. The rest of dd's basket includes some earrings, small nail polish, and the HS Musical 3 dvd. DS 6 will get a small Lego kit, Bob slime, the Despareux dvd and some star wars trading cards. DD 3 will get a small pj sparkles, Dora bubble whistle, small Pixo kit and the Barbie Thumbelina dvd. I might put an inexpensive book in each basket, too. Going to Target with my mom & no kiddos tom. so need to get most of the above, minus a few of the things I picked up at Walmart.

We'll be going to the World in early June....59 days to be exact! We'll be driving this year so I've decided to make baskets gear towards our trip. The baskets will be filled with new movies for the DVD player,CD's Colored pencils, coloring books and word search books. I've also decided to purchase a $15.00 Itunes gift card to put into DS(12) basket so that he can load new songs onto his Ipod, new flip flops and of course more games for the car. The more their entertained......the better our 18 hour trip will be.
I'm fortunate that our little man (8) will be having a birthday and he's asked for DS games from the relatives.....that will save me a few bucks!

I probably went a little overboard again, so I won't comment on the main question. But...

I bought very standard, cheap baskets a couple of years ago. $.99 each at Target. They look a lot like the baskets I had when I was little. We're on year 3 with them. I won't buy a new one until they fall apart. ;-)
We also reuse the same halloween pumpkins for tick-or-treat. I'm not buying one to go with the costumes.

Ok, I'll confess:
DD Tinkerbell teapot play set she saw advertised
Little petshop animal
Basket full of candy

DS Cars race set
Match box cars
Basket full of candy

Doesn't seem like that much. Untill you add in 1) baskets sent by Grandma 2) baskets sent by Great Grandma 3) Box of crafts sent by older cousin

Since I don't let them each much candy in a day, we'll be stocked until Halloween.

Since when doesn't the toothfairy just leave quarters?? They haven't lost any teeth yet, but I can't afford 80 DS games!:scared1:

Just got done with ours...I usually don't buy anything as I collect so much throughout the year on sale and such and then keep it for all holidays...christmas is usually the only time I buy. Kids have pottery barn baskets that we will reuse every year. Usually I do books, coloring books, and dvds. This year I have so much AG sitting in bins for dd that I need to get it given to her. I try to make it equal in what's given and cost but dd's stuff is always more expensive :( Along with the baskets the EB always hides eggs with candy and usually $1-2 dollars each. They have fun finding the eggs! Here's what I filled the baskets with this year:

DD:
American Girl Mia hockey outfit (skirt, hockey jersey, hockey stick, puck, leg warmers)
American Girl Chrissa swim team outfit
American Girl Kit Movie
Webkinz dog
Sunglasses
Candy

DS:
'I Can Print' wipe off workbook with markers
2 of his favorite series books (Old Lady/Cold Lady)
Wow Wow Wubzy DVD
Wall E Leapster game
Wall E Eve action figure
Sunglasses
