what are you passionate about?

Anything I'm passionate about is teenage absistience. I'm not against sex before marriage because if your in your 20's and have a great job or are engaged then why can't you have sex but teens are different. IMO teens are not mature enough to have sex and if a teen gets pregnant they're not ready to handle a baby.

Abstinence only education does not work. We should tell teens not to have sex and give the reasons why but also teach on safe sex education and birth control options for teens. It's ridiculous to assume that teenagers are going to stay abstinent because they signed a piece of paper at school vowing to not have sex.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, but wouldn't better education on preventing pregnancy being better? Abstinence only had been proven to not work in Texas. Abstinence only could only encourage kids to have sex. You know the mentality of our peers "Well if they say we can't do it, we're gonna do it!". I just feel that if we learned how to prevent pregnancy better there wouldn't be so many teen mothers. That's not to say if we teach anti-abstinence, everyone is going to go out and have sex. But some people are going to do it whether we like it or not. I would rather them be educated about the different forms of contraception that not be, and get pregnant.

JMO.

::yes::

Basically, the people who aren't going to have sex aren't going to do it because they told them not to in school, they are going to because that is a choice they made.

You know, we were talking about that in my child dev. class the other day. Most of us agreed that there should be more education on the subject of pregnancy, but this other person disagreed because they didn't like the idea of 'sex' being taught to young kids (talking middle school age and younger) because 'it could just make them curious'.

I think that a LOT of adults/parents think that way, but what I don't think they realize is that the kids are going to be exposed to it regardless. Whether it be at school or somewhere else, they ARE going to be exposed to it. Maybe if more parents realized this...instead of thinking "Oh, well maybe if I don't say anything about it they'll stay protected", then there would be more Sex Ed/Pregnancy Prevention classes.

Let me reword that. I'm against teenagers having sex. I don't care about what teens get taught in school because no one listens anyway.

my main thing is religion. As in, people not being accepting of a religion. I go to a catholic school and one of my good friends is an atheist and i am a practicing catholic. I go to church every sunday read the Bible and actually believe in the religion (some people are religious by upbringing and force and stuff, know what i mean?) Anyway, it was Ash Wednesday. most of my classmates had ashes and she is walking around yelling, "Why is it acceptable for people to walk around with dirt on their heads?" i calmly tried to explain everything to her but she would not listen and continued to make fun. And then she turns around and insists that she is one of the few good people who accepts everyone and everything.

My other thing is politics. I dont mind arguing politics as long as the debate does not get out of hand. I am a republican and have been in many heated debates with angry democrats. these debates never turn out well

But marriage isn't used in just a religious sense now-a-days. It's a legal union. And this country isn't 'supposed' to be run on religion.

I guess I don't get it. Does calling it 'civil marriage' make a difference?

Nononononononono.

Gays should get "Mawwied", not "married". ;)

Man. I laugh when people go on about marriage and not supporting gay marriage because of the name. It's a word, people! A word! The bond between a man and a woman is love (ok, so it's actually the sacrament of Matrimony in most cases). Marriage is just a word and that word shouldn't matter. It's not the important part of what occurs. The love is!

So. Here's my simple solution.

If you don't like gay marriage, don't have one.

But, if it means getting full rights faster, I will concede the word "marriage" and replace it with "union".

But I still don't get it. It's just a word. Yes, there's an ideal associated with it, but to me there's a difference between "holy marriage/matrimony" and "civil marriage".

Just to be fair here, I've had the same debates with angry republicans.

Just spreading the love here. ;)

that is true but i dont really watch/ listen to him that much, i prefer Sean Hannity. Probably because i like what he says and being a sarcastic person myself, i love his sense of humor. He uses snarky nicknames for people.

Sean Hannity...oh, the lulz I get when I watch his show.

Angry people in general amuse me.

But, I love comparing Fox to CNN. Everybody on Fox is so angry-like compared to the calm zen-like state of CNN.

Of course, then there's Keith Olbermann on MSNBC...he's a great angry democrate. I luvs him.

I can compeltely handle this, I love poctically arguements. But, peple always pick on my type, people with conservtive veiws.
Yeah, and I'm going to say people always pick on my type, a person with liberal views.

No matter what you believe in, there's going to be opposing views. Being all 'woe is me' isn't going to help a thing.

And Patti, I totally watch Bill O'Reilly just to laugh my *** off at him. He's an angry person.

'Bill, I made you some brownies.'
'WHHHATTT!? BROWNIES? I. Wanted. Cake. -punches wall'

Bill O'Reilly totally makes my day somedays. He's just one of those people who gets so angry that they're hilarious. Oh.....Bill.

On a semi-sidenote: I totally want to see Bill O'Reilly and Rahm Emanuel head-to-head in a steel cage match to the death. We all know who would win that one. *coughrahmcough*
