what are you passionate about?

Anti Racism.
One of my best friends boyfriends is so racist. The first time we met he texted one of my other besties (his ex) and said "Holy ****, Shes Asian, Shes gonna eat me". Its infuriating! Racism is the stupidest thing on this earth.
Even joke racism is bad. If someone said to me(even one of my besties), "hey *points* its that asian girl! Shell eat us *:p* Jokes!" It just pisses me off.

I just have to re-iterate the gay rights. These people are human beings, they should do whatever makes them happy. It has absolutely no affect on me if a gay person decides to be with the person they love/date the people that attract them/etc.

It infuriates me to no end when people say 'being gay is not right/natural'. SAYS WHO? I'm just so..ugh. I refuse to respect the opinions of people who think gay people are 'under' them somehow.

I might punch the next person who bashes gay people.

I am all for gay rights, I believe that it is natural and perfectly fine and I get mad whenever I here a gay joke or someone bashing gay people.

But, I'm against gay marriage. I don't belive that marriage was created to be between two people of the same gender.

I know that might seem confusing, but its really not.

Why shouldn't two people who are in love get to have all the rights of marriage?

It doesn't have to be in a church, those are private institutions & I don't think they should be forced to support gay marriage if they don't want to.

I don't get the reasoning behind people who 'say' they support gay rights, but don't agree with gay marriage.

Marriage comes with all sorts of benefits. Financial stability, power of attorney, etc. Two people who are in love should be able to get married, no matter what.

I think some people have an issue with the word marriage because it has religious ties. If that is the case they could call it something else but make sure they have all of the same benefits of marriage.

But marriage isn't used in just a religious sense now-a-days. It's a legal union. And this country isn't 'supposed' to be run on religion.

I guess I don't get it. Does calling it 'civil marriage' make a difference?

I know it's not just used in a religious sense but I think that is what a lot of people have a problem with.

It's just to me, it matters more about the rights and less about the word.

I was raised in a family where marriage isn't an institution, its asacred bond between two people, a man and a women.

Like I said I hate to hear anti-gay remarks, its not right for people to judge them like that.

But marriage is just very different.

You don't have to agre with me but this is what I belive and I will always stand by it. I know its hard to get, but your not me.

LGBT rights and abortion. I've debated you guys, my classmates, and my father on these issues.

::yes::

me too actually...and i'm writing a research paper on Roe v. Wade for English which caused me to get in a huge debate with my teacher

ANWR. i will not compromise, and i will not settle for anything less than preserving it in its entirety.

abortions.i will not deny anyone's right to make a choice and i will not demand they make the same choice i would make.

birth control. it should be available to everyone.

real sex education. no abstinence only. it doesn't work. our youth should be educated properly.

no child left behind. it should be abolished.

social equality. (gblt rights/racism/disabilites)

welfare. should be a major priority in our government.

public education. college should be more available to everyone.

One of the main reasons I am home schooled now.
They need to get rid of it, its not helping the children,
if anything its hurting them.

They are not learning the things they need to know.
If they don't understand the work, its like ahh who cares?
we have to move on cause the stupid curriculum says
we have to be studying the specific thing, on this exact date.

And whoever doesn't understand it will just have to suffer?
It's a mess, they need to let the teachers teach,
thats why they went to college to become a teacher!
To teach children what they learned, not what they're
having to read off of a piece of paper.

OMG do NOT get me started on NCLB. It infuriates me to NO END!

I'm an education major and in my psychology in education class last year we talked about NCLB a lot. I think the idea of it is good but it's way too restricting. Some kids aren't good test takers and it's not fair to make them pass a test to graduate high school. I was part of the first class to have to take our standardized test, the OGT (Ohio Graduation Test) and I was so scared I was going to fail it. I passed though and got accelerated or advanced in every subject except science (which I got proficient) which was by far the most ridiculously hard part of the test. It was the most failed portion.

Anyways, making kids pass a standard test to get through high school is not going to work. Every child learns differently and in different ways, which is what the fundamental problem with NCLB is.

Count me in as one of the bad test takers. I normally score Proficient (highest) on my PSSAs, but when I take them I am a nervous wreck. I can't explain how I answer things, it just works in my head.

The problem with NCLB is that we don't learn anymore. All we do is study, study, study and practice, practice, practice for these tests! It's insane.

You described it more graphic than I did, but it gets the point across. :lmao:

I think people have misconceptions about plan b. My mom found the package to it and thought it was the abortion pill. I told her it wasn't but I don't know if she believed me. It really bothers me that she might think I've had an abortion when I just took birth control like she did when she was younger.

im really sorry, i had been taught that it was actually an abortion pill. now that it has been properly explained, i dont have a problem with it :)

Do you think gays should be able to get a 'civil marriage' or 'civil union'?

And I'm also against NCLB, it's a bunch of crap. Nobody learns anymore, they're too busy preparing for tests. On the first day of school on, that's all you hear about. And the teachers are miserable because they can't teach the way the want to.

It depends. Thats all I'm going to say.

This is what always happens to me, 20 questions because I have conservative views and I'm the "minority" when it comes to politics. I dont care what people say, there are a lot pore people with liberal views in this country then people with conservative views.

In both private and public school my teachers have never been concerned about testing. We do have to take the tests in private school but we never study for them there. In public we were start talking about the tests 2 or 3 weeks before they happened and that was it. The tests were never a big deal in my schools.

Abortion- you abort a child you are a murder..no exceptions
LGBT Rights- if they are gay/lesbian how is it hurting you?

But isn't an abortion a person's choice? I mean what if a 14 year old girl go pregnant, her family is on no little money, she is obviously still in school, she's young she won't be wanting to raise a child...would it be far to make that child suffer a bad life?...I'm not saying if abortion is right or wrong I just believe its up to that person, its not hurting anyone outside of that family...the world is overpopulated as it is and sometimes this can be down to the fact alot of people are afraid to get abortions because of the tags/names they'll get stuck with them because of it....I'm not trying disagree with your point of view, as its your point of view just like the above is mine...anyway.

I agree Gay's/Lesbians/Bi/Transgender people are causing no harm to anyone because of who they are, its not like they chose to be what they are. I have a few transgender friends and one of them was telling me about how much abuse she has gotten from people, even to the point that recently she said she's getting more and more scared.

What's the big deal? Because someone asks you a few questions about your beliefs? I'm not even really debating with you. When you openly say you believe a certain thing, no matter what it is, you're going to get grief from somewhere.

So if you're not ready to handle that, then maybe keep your opinions to youself. Or walk away.

I think a lot of people believe that about it. It could be easily confused if you haven't read much on it or anything. There is an abortion pill, but that is something totally different. :)

I can compeltely handle this, I love poctically arguements. But, peple always pick on my type, people with conservtive veiws.
