What are you going to do with your son's Kobe Bryant jersey?

DS has a Kobe jersey (which he has not had access to, but that is another story ) and even with the criminal case dropped, I am not sure that Kobe is the type of guy that I want my son looking up to. On the other hand, DS has other jersies and since there has not been tons of media attention about those players, I do not know what type of men they are. So, do I give the jersey back when the punishment is over, or do I replace it with another player?

It's just a basketball jersey, not a shrine to the man. Wearing a person's jersey shouldn't have any bearing as to whom your son is "looking up to", just that he's a basketball player he likes.

Agree with Bob and that your son should wear it. Kind of a sad commentary on sports, but are there any athletes anyone can look up too? It's on the news all the time (hockey player assualts another hockey player, coach arrested for dui, football player tested positive for drugs, the list goes on and on).

No comment on whether to give it back to your son or not, but whatever you do, keep it! Apparently OJ jerseys are worth something these days, believe it or not.

Kids should be told that pro athletes have a great talent when playing the game, but don't expect them to make great choices when off.

Do as Kobe when the uniform is on, but not as Kobe when the uniform is off!!!

Charles Barkley said he is not a role model, that sure got him into a lot of hot water. I agree with Sir Charles, he shouldn't be a role model for what he does OFF the court, but On the court he was a pretty good player and kids could learn a lot from watching him.

I would allow him to wear the jersey. I don't think you are saying that what Kobe did was ok just by wearing his jersey.
